About Box-Toppers’ team abbreviations
Angels pitcher José Soriano leads Box-Toppers season player rankings for the second straight week.
The leaderboard shifted significantly this week, with three major player categories having new season leaders:
Tyler Glasnow of the Dodgers rises to lead National League pitchers.
Max Muncy of the Dodgers rises to lead NL batters.
Riley Greene of the Tigers rises to lead American League batters.
Soriano leads
Soriano has 7.0 Box-Toppers points in 2026, gaining 1.0 point in the past week. He leads all players and all AL pitchers ahead of second-place Max Fried of the Yankees (6.0 points).
Soriano has earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors five times this season. He’s earned 1.0 point as Player of the Game three times (March 26, March 31 and April 17) and 2.0 points as overall Player of the Day twice (April 6 and April 12).
National League pitchers
Tyler Glasnow of the Dodgers rises to first place with 5.7 Box-Toppers points, passing last week’s leader, teammate Yoshinobu Yamamato, who falls to fourth place with 3.7 points. Glasnow ranks ahead of second-place NL pitcher, Randy Vásquez of the Padres (5.4 points).
Glasnow ranks third overall.
American League batters
Riley Greene of the Tigers rises from fourth place last week to first place this week with 3.5 Box-Toppers points. He passes last week’s leader, Brayan Rocchio of the Guardians, who falls to second place with 3.5 points. Both Greene and Rocchio have 3.5 points on the season, but Greene holds the tiebreaker edge with more 2025 points—9.0 vs. 1.5.
Greene ranks 15th overall.
National League batters
Max Muncy of the Dodgers rises from 10th place last week to first place this week with 3.7 Box-Toppers points, passing last week’s leader, Alec Burleson of the Cardinals, who falls to second place with 3.0 points.
Muncy ranks 14th overall.
Box-Toppers almanac
Pitchers continue to dominate in Box-Toppers points this season, but batters gained some ground this week, winning 39.4% of Player of the Game honors.
That helped push the batters' season share of total points up to 37.5%, which is now ahead of their record-low 37.2% share they posted in 2024.
Pitchers have dominated in winning Player of the Game in recent seasons. While batters have struggled to reach parity with pitchers in recent seasons, it wasn’t always this way: From 1995 to 2009, batters generally won half or more of all Box-Toppers points each season. But their share of points dropped precipitously after 2009.
