Yankees pitcher Max Fried is Tuesday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day, rising to first place in season player rankings.
Other Player of the Game winners Tuesday include Dodgers pitcher Shohei Ohtani, José Fernández of the Diamondbacks, Gary Sánchez of the Brewers, Blue Jays pitcher Max Scherzer and Danny Jansen of the Rangers.

Fried struck out six over seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits and one walk, in the 5-0 win over the Mariners.
Fried earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 4.0 for the season, rising to first place in season player rankings, passing previous leader, Joey Wiemer of the Nationals (2.7 points). This is Fried’s second overall Player of the Day honor of the season. He also did it March 25.
Fried recorded a +9.0 Box-Toppers game score, same as another Tuesday Player of the Game winner, Astros pitcher Hunter Brown (6IP H R 2BB 8K W in the 9-2 win over the Red Sox). However, Fried beat Brown for overall Player of the Day honors on a tiebreaker with more innings pitched (seven vs. six).
NL Player of the Day: Shohei Ohtani, Dodgers
Ohtani struck out six over six scoreless innings, allowing one hit and three walks, in the 4-1 win over the Guardians.
Ohtani earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, his first points of the season, and is 12th in season player rankings.
Ohtani now has 92.9 career Box-Toppers points with 49.2 earned as a pitcher and 43.7 earned as a batter.
NL Batter of the Day: José L. Fernández, Diamondbacks
Fernández hit two home runs, including a three-run homer, in the 7-5 win over the Tigers. He went 3-for-4, scoring twice and driving in four runs.
This was Fernández’s Box-Toppers debut, his first career Player of the Game honor and also his Major League debut.
Fernández recorded a +5.0 Box-Toppers game score, same as another NL batter who won Player of the Game honors Tuesday, Oneil Cruz of the Pirates (2HR 3-4 3R 3BI in the 8-3 win over the Reds). However, Fernández beat Cruz for NL Batter of the Day on a tiebreaker with more runs batted in (four vs. three).
AL Batter of the Day: Danny Jansen, Rangers
Jansen hit a three-run home run, doubled and went 3-for-5, scoring once and driving in three runs, in the 8-5 win over the Orioles.

Scherzer’s best season was 2016 with the Nationals when he had 25.7 Box-Toppers points to lead all players. Scherzer’s 18-season streak earning Box-Toppers points is now the longest active streak, ahead of the 17-season streak by Andrew McCutchen of the Rangers. Scherzer’s streak is tied for the sixth-longest streak since Box-Toppers tracking began in 1995 (six other players also have 18-season streaks). Albert Pujols has the longest streak, earning Box-Toppers points in 22 straight seasons from 2001 to 2022.
Streak: Gary Sánchez, Brewers
Sánchez has now earned Box-Toppers points in 11 straight seasons with this first Player of the Game honor of 2026 Tuesday.
Sánchez (HR 1-1 2R BI in the 6-2 win over the Rays) earned his first points in 2016 with the Yankees and now has 31.5 career Box-Toppers points, second among active NL catchers, behind J.T. Realmuto of the Phillies (53.7).
His best season was 2018 with the Yankees when he earned 5.5 Box-Toppers points, third among AL catchers. In 2025, he earned 3.0 Box-Toppers points with the Orioles, 11th among AL catchers.
