Also Friday, Angels pitcher José Soriano extends his lead in Box-Toppers season player rankings and Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow rises to sixth place overall.

Player of the Day: Ranger Suárez, Red Sox
Suárez struck out four over eight scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk, in the 1-0, 10-inning win over the Tigers. Suárez did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the game was in a scoreless tie when he exited.
Suárez earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 3.0 for the season, 11th in season player rankings and sixth among American League pitchers.
NL Player of the Day: Tyler Glasnow, Dodgers
Glasnow struck out seven over seven innings, allowing one run, two hits and two walks, in the 7-1 win over the Rockies.
Glasnow earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being National League Player of the Day, giving him 3.7 for the season, rising to sixth in season player rankings and second among NL pitchers, behind teammate Yoshinobu Yamamoto (3.7). Though they both have 3.7 points on the season, Yamamoto ranks ahead of Glasnow baesd on higher 2025 point totals—17.7 vs. 5.0.
AL Batter of the Day: Munetaka Murakami, White Sox
Murakami hit a grand slam and went 3-for-5, scoring twice and driving in four runs, in the 9-2 win over the Athletics.
NL Batter of the Day: Moisés Ballesteros, Cubs
Ballesteros hit a three-run home runs and went 2-for-2, scoring once and driving in three runs, in the 12-4 win over the Mets.
This was Ballesteros’s Box-Toppers debut, his first career Player of the Game honor. Ballesteros made his Major League debut May 13, 2025, and was playing in his 36th career game.
Rankings: José Soriano, Angels
Soriano extended his lead in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors Friday.
Soriano (5.2IP 2H 0R 4BB 8K W in the 8-0 win over the Padres) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 7.0 for the season. He is now 2.3 points ahead of second-place player, Twins pitcher Taj Bradley (4.7 points).
It is his fifth Player of the Game honor of the 2026 season. Previously, he earned 1.0 point as Player of the Game twice (March 26 and March 31) and 2.0 points as overall Player of the Day twice (April 6 and April 12).
Streak: Matt Chapman, Giants
Chapman has now earned Box-Toppers points in 10 straight seasons with his first Player of the Game honor of 2026 on Friday.
Chapman (3-5 R 3BI in the 10-5 win over the Nationals) earned his first points in 2017 with the Athletics and now has 44.7 career Box-Toppers points, 20th among active NL batters and fifth among active NL third basemen. His best season was 2024 with the Giants, when he had 10.2 points, fourth among NL batters. He earned 5.0 points in 2025 with the Giants, 36th among NL batters.
Debut
Rangers relief pitcher Gavin Collyer made his Box-Toppers debut Friday with his first career Player of the Game honor.
Collyer (1.1IP H 0R BB 2K W in the 5-0 win over the Mariners) made his Major League debut April 15 and was playing in his second career game.

Suárez earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day.
Glasnow earns 1.7 points for being NL Player of the Day.
Murakami and Ballesteros each earn 1.5 points for being their league’s Batter of the Day.
