Cubs pitcher Shota Imanaga is Box-Toppers Player of the Day in Tuesday’s spring training games.
Other top players Tuesday include Seby Zavala of the Dodgers, Phillies pitcher Jesús Luzardo, Guardians pitcher Kolby Allard and Joey Loperfido of the Astros.
Player of the Day: Shota Imanaga, Cubs
Imanaga struck out eight over 4 2/3 innings, allowing one run, one hit and one walk, in the 8-6 win over the Angels.
Imanaga earned 7.0 Box-Toppers points in 2025, 35th among National League pitchers. He had the second-biggest decline in Box-Toppers points among all players from 2024 to 2025 of 13.7 points. In his 2024 rookie season, he earned 20.7 points, fourth overall, third among NL pitchers and first among NL rookies. Only Yankees pitcher Luis Gil had a bigger decline of 16.4 points, falling from 17.4 in 2024 to 1.0 in 2025.
AL Player of the Day: Kolby Allard, Guardians
Allard struck out five over three innings, allowing two runs, one hit and no walks, in the 8-6 win over the Reds. Allard did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the Guardians trailed when he exited.
Allard earned 1.0 Box-Toppers point in 2025.
NL Batter of the Day: Seby Zavala, Dodgers
Zavala hit a grand slam and went 1-for-1, scoring once and driving in four runs, in the 10-4 win over the Royals.
Zavala played in 72 minor league games in 2025 in the Red Sox organization and did not earn Box-Toppers points. He has 2.0 career Box-Toppers points earned in 2023 and 2024 for the White Sox and Mariners. He signed as a free agent with the Dodgers in February.
This is his second Box-Toppers Player of the Game honor of the 2026 spring training season. He also did it March 9.
AL Batter of the Day: Joey Loperfido, Astros
Loperfido went 1-for-1 and scored three times, in the 10-2 win over the Pirates.
Loperfido played 41 games for the Blue Jays in 2025 but earned no Box-Toppers points. He has 1.0 career Box-Toppers point, earned in 2024 with the Astros. In February, he returned to the Astros via trade for outfielder Jesús Sánchez (4.5 points in 2025).
This is his second Box-Toppers Player of the Game honor of the 2026 spring training season. He also did it March 9.
Notable: Jesús Luzardo, Phillies
Luzardo has the most 2025 Box-Toppers points among Tuesday’s spring training Player of the Game winners.
Luzardo (5IP 5H 0R BB 5K W in the 2-0 win over the Twins) earned 17.4 Box-Toppers points in 2025, eighth overall and fifth among NL pitchers.
This is his second Box-Toppers Player of the Game honor of the 2026 spring training season. He also did it March 5.

In addition to Zavala, Loperfido and Luzardo, two others also earned their second Box-Toppers Player of the Game honor of the 2026 spring training season on Tuesday:
Nationals pitcher Jake Irvin (5IP 3IP 0R BB 5K W in the 1-0 win over the Cardinals) also did it Feb. 28.
Padres pitcher Germán Márquez (5IP 3H 3R BB 9K ND in the 9-6 win over the Mariners) also did it March 6.
