Jacob Misiorowski earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors Wednesday as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 to win the 2026 World Series in five games.

Misiorowski struck out two over 5.2 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk in the series-clinching victory.

The 2026 Box-Toppers Player of the Year (who led all players with 26.1 Box-Toppers points in the regular season) becomes the only player to win two Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors in the 2026 World Series. He previously won top player honors on Oct. 23 in Game 1.

Misiorowski is only the third player to win Box-Toppers Player of the Year honors and go on to earn Player of the Game honors in a World Series game since tracking began in 1995, joining Randy Johnson of the Diamondbacks (2001) and Gerrit Cole of the Astros (2019). Misiorowski is the only Player of the Year to win Player of the Game honors twice in a single Fall Classic.

He is the sixth player to win Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors more than once this postseason, joining:

Misiorowski Postseason Context

Misiorowski averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game in the regular season, but struck out just two batters Wednesday—his lowest single-game strikeout total of the season. His previous lowest regular season mark was four on Sept. 20, and his previous postseason low was three in World Series Game 1. Despite the low strikeout totals, he earned Player of the Game honors in all three contests.

Wednesday marked Misiorowski’s longest postseason outing at 5.2 innings, surpassing his 5.0 innings in Game 1. He exited in the sixth inning after 86 pitches due to a right calf cramp.

He pitched fewer than five innings in both previous postseason starts without earning top player honors, though Milwaukee won both contests (NLDS Game 1 on Oct. 3 and NLCS Game 1 on Oct. 11). In five September starts, he pitched more than six innings only once, but still earned Player of the Game honors four times (earning 4.7 total Box-Toppers points).

During the regular season, Misiorowski averaged 5.8 innings per start, though he had not reached seven innings in an outing since Aug. 2.

Game Summary

Milwaukee opened the scoring in the second inning on a Cooper Pratt single that drove in Brice Turang. In the fifth inning, David Hamilton singled to drive in Pratt, making it 2-0. In the fifth, the Brewers scored two runs—a William Contreras double drove in Christian Yelich, and a Pratt sacrifice fly drove in Ryan Vilade. The Rays scored a run in the ninth inning on a Chandler Simpson double that drove in Liam Hicks, making the score 4-1.

Cooper Pratt had the highest Box-Toppers game score among Brewers batters in World Series Game 5.
