Brewers starting pitcher Robert Gasser earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors in Monday’s World Series Game 3 as Milwaukee beat Tampa Bay 10-1 to take a commanding 3-0 series lead.

Gasser struck out three over six scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk. Milwaukee can complete a sweep of the best-of-seven series in Game 4 on Tuesday in Tampa Bay.

Gasser gave up a single to Yandy Díaz—the first batter he faced—for his only hit allowed. From the second to the fifth innings, he retired 12 consecutive batters before issuing a lead-off walk in the sixth to Victor Mesa Jr., who was promptly erased on a double play.

While Gasser held the Rays scoreless, Milwaukee batters scored two runs in the third inning, then exploded for eight runs in the fifth. All eight runs scored with two outs and after the Brewers successfully challenged a force-play out at second base, which would have ended the top of the fifth. Umpires called Christian Yelich out as he slid into second base on a William Contreras single, but replay reviews showed he beat the throw, allowing the inning to continue.

Milwaukee exploded for eight runs in the fifth, with all runs scored on six straight hits with two out.

The next batter, Brice Turang, singled to drive in two runs, the first of six straight two-out hits—all singles and doubles—that built Milwaukee’s lead to 10-0.

Gasser wins second Player of the Game honor of 2026 postseason

Monday marked Gasser’s second Box-Toppers Player of the Game honor of the 2026 postseason. He previously won top player honors on Oct. 14 in National League Championship Series Game 3 against Los Angeles.

Gasser becomes the fifth player to earn Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors more than once this postseason, joining:

World Series Game 4, Brewers lead Rays 3-0

Tuesday’s pitching matchup (for more, see matchups chart below):

Brewers—Undecided as of Tuesday morning.

Milwaukee may go with a bullpen game featuring an opener pitching limited innings. Some options for an opener or starter include:

  • Dustin May, 8.7 Box-Toppers points in 2026, 63rd overall, 28th among NL pitchers. Normally a starter, May has made four 2026 postseason appearances—including one three-inning start on Oct. 6 in the NLDS Game 3 loss to the Padres—but has not earned Player of the Game honors in any of them. His other three postseason appearances came in relief.

  • Shane Drohan, 3.0 Box-Toppers points in 2026, 356th overall, 97th among NL pitchers. Drohan served as the opener on Oct. 15 in the NLCS Game 4 win over the Dodgers. He pitched one inning but did not earn Player of the Game honors.

  • Kyle Harrison, 14.7 Box-Toppers points in 2026, 20th overall, 12th among NL pitchers. Normally a starter, Harrison struggled late in the season (13.50 ERA over 8.2 September innings) and was moved to the bullpen. While he has been on the Brewers’ postseason rosters, he has yet to appear in a postseason game.

  • Brandon Woodruff, 3.0 Box-Toppers points in 2026, 302nd overall, 83rd among NL pitchers. Woodruff closed Monday’s World Series Game 3 but had not pitched previously since July 4 as he battled shoulder injuries. Woodruff had a career-best 20.8 Box-Toppers points in 2022 with the Brewers, fourth overall and second among NL pitchers.

Rays—Griffin Jax—7.7 Box-Toppers points in 2026, 81st overall, 35th among AL pitchers.

Jax has made two 2026 postseason appearances, but did not win Player of the Game honors in either game. He pitched two innings of relief Oct. 7 in ALDS Game 3 and started Oct. 15 in ALCS Game 3, pitching four innings.
