Meanwhile, the New York Yankees continue to lead American League teams.
Among the 12 teams qualifying for the postseason, the Dodgers rank highest while the Houston Astros, the AL West champions, rank 19th overall, lowest among all playoff teams. Seven non-playoff teams, including two division rivals—the Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers—rank higher than the Astros in Box-Toppers standings.
Dodgers lead overall
The Dodgers lead all teams with 142.7 Box-Toppers points, including gaining 9.2 since the last team rankings report Sept. 17, most of any team. The Dodgers won seven of their nine games in the past 10 days.
Los Angeles has held the top spot in 17 of the past 18 reports—and 22 of the past 24—while leading National League teams in 24 of 25 reports this season.
The Dodgers missed leading all teams in just three of the 25 reports this season:
April 2: Ranked ninth overall (5.2 points) in the season's first report.
May 7: Ranked second overall behind the Yankees (33.9 to 31.0).
July 23: Ranked second overall (and second in the NL) behind the Milwaukee Brewers (81.6 to 81.5).
The Dodgers expanded their lead over the Brewers (136.3 points, gaining 8.0 points in the final 10 days of the season), who are in second place overall and among NL teams. The Dodgers have baseball’s second-best winning percentage (.617), behind the Brewers (.636).
The Dodgers are led by Yoshinobu Yamamoto with 17.4 Box-Toppers points, eighth overall and fifth among NL pitchers. The Dodgers’ top batter is Shohei Ohtani with 15.7 Box-Toppers points (7.0 as a batter and 8.7 as a pitcher). He ranks first among NL batters and 15th among NL pitchers. Twenty-eight Dodgers earned Box-Toppers points in 2026.
Yankees lead AL teams
The Yankees lead AL teams for a sixth straight week with 120.1 Box-Toppers points (+6.2 since Sept. 17), rising from fourth to third overall. The Yankees have led AL teams 21 of the past 22 reports. The Tampa Bay Rays rank second in the AL (115.0 points) despite winning the AL East by 4.5 games and having the AL’s best winning percentage over the Yankees (.605 vs. .578).
New York is led by pitcher Cam Schlittler (21.7 points, third overall and first among AL pitchers). Top batter is Jazz Chisholm Jr. (6.5 points, 11th among AL batters). Twenty-nine Yankees players earned Box-Toppers points in 2026.
Other NL postseason teams
The Dodgers and Brewers finish first and second overall and among NL teams in Box-Toppers team rankings. The other four NL postseason teams:
Philadelphia Phillies: Fall from third to fourth overall with 117.4 points, slumping in the last 10 days of the season, picking up just 3.0 points, tied for fifth-lowest overall.
Atlanta Braves: Though they win the NL East six games ahead of the Phillies, they finish sixth with 113.7 Box-Toppers points, picking up 6.0 in the final 10 days of the season.
Chicago Cubs: Their 111.2 Box-Toppers points ranks eighth overall, down from seventh place on Sept. 17. They picked up 5.5 points in the final 10 days of the season.
San Diego Padres: Their 104.5 Box-Toppers points ranks 11th overall and lowest among all NL postseason teams. However their 6.5-point gain in the final 10 days of the season is tied for the seventh-most among all teams.
Other AL postseason teams
Cleveland Guardians: They rose from eighth to seventh in Box-Toppers rankings with 112.1 Box-Toppers points, picking up 8.4 points in the final 10 days of the season, most of any AL team.
Boston Red Sox: They fell from ninth to 10th place in Box-Toppers rankings with 105.1 points, picking up 3.5 in the final 10 days of the season.
Chicago White Sox: Their 100.9 Box-Toppers points ranks 14th overall. They picked up 6.5 in the final 10 days of the season.
Houston Astros: Qualifying for the postseason with a .500 record, they rank 19th in Box-Toppers rankings with 84.2 points, picking up 4.4 in the final 10 days of the season. They rank behind seven teams that did not make the postseason.
Notable non-postseason teams
These teams did not qualify for the postseason despite having Box-Toppers point totals higher than than the AL West champion Astros:
Seattle Mariners: 9th overall (105.2 points), finished 5 games behind Houston in the AL West.
Pittsburgh Pirates: 12th overall (103.9 points), finished 21 games behind Milwaukee in the NL Central.

Minnesota Twins: 15th overall (99.1 points), finished 8 games behind Cleveland in the AL Central.

Miami Marlins: 18th overall (88.0 points), finished 14 games behind Atlanta in the NL East.
Last place: Colorado Rockies
The Rockies fall from 29th to 30th (last place) with 61.1 points (+2.5 in the past 10 days). The San Francisco Giants rise to 29th place, also with 61.1 points. Though tied in total points, San Francisco ranks higher based on earning more points over the final 10 days of the season (2.7 vs. 2.5).
