Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski capped off his Box-Toppers Player of the Year season by extending his overall lead in 2026 Box-Toppers points.
Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler rose to fifth place in Box-Toppers season player rankings and third among National League pitchers.
Blue Jays pitcher Max Scherzer, in what could be the final start of his career, ended the season by extending his lead among active players in career Box-Toppers points.
Other Player of the Game winners Sunday include Pirates pitcher Jared Jones, Alex Bregman of the Cubs and Vinnie Pasquantino of the Royals.
Player of the Day: Logan Gilbert, Mariners
Gilbert struck out eight over four scoreless and hitless innings, allowing one walk, in the 7-3 win over the Angels. Gilbert did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because he did not pitch the required five innings for a starting pitcher to earn the win.
Gilbert earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points as Player of the Day, giving him 16.7 for the season, 10th among all players and fifth among American League pitchers.
His rise to 10th place bumps Rangers pitcher Jacob deGrom (16.4) to 11th place.
NL Player of the Day: Jared Jones, Pirates
Jones struck out five over four scoreless innings, allowing one hit and no walks, in the 4-2 win over the Tigers. Jones did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because he did not pitch the required five innings for a starting pitcher to earn the win.
Jones earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points as National League Player of the Day, giving him 11.4 for the season, 30th among all players and 14th among NL pitchers.
Jones becomes the 38th player to reach 10 Box-Toppers points in 2026. It is his first season with 10 or more points. His previous high was 7.0 in 2024 with the Pirates, 44th among NL pitchers. He missed the 2025 season after undergoing surgery to repair a right UCL sprain, earning no points.
With 38 players reaching 10 points, 2026 ties 2017 for the fewest players to reach double digits in a full 162-game season since Box-Toppers tracking began in 1995.
NL Batter of the Day: Alex Bregman, Cubs
Bregman hit two home runs, doubled and went 4-for-4, scoring three times and driving in four runs, in the 6-2 win over the Red Sox.
He earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points, giving him 7.7 for the season, 13th among NL batters.
AL Batter of the Day: Vinnie Pasquantino, Royals
Pasquantino hit two home runs and went 2-for-4, scoring twice and driving in two runs, in the 3-2 win over the Guardians.
He earns 1.5 points, giving him 4.0 for 2026, 36th among AL batters.

Misiorowski extended his 2026 Box-Toppers points lead by earning Player of the Game honors Sunday (5.1IP 2H 0R 2BB 5K W in the 6-4 win over the Cardinals).
He earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 26.1 for the season, ahead of second-place Jesús Luzardo of the Phillies (23.0), who also ranks second among NL pitchers.
His 26.1 points are now tied for the 19th-most points earned in a single season since Box-Toppers tracking began in 1995. Two other players earned 26.1 points in a season:
John Smoltz of the Braves in 1996
Clayton Kershaw of the Dodgers in 2011
Like Misiorowski in 2026, both also led all players in Box-Toppers points in those seasons.
Rankings: Zack Wheeler, Phillies
Wheeler rises from sixth to fifth place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors Sunday (6IP 5H R 0BB 5K W in the 7-3 win over the Rays).
He earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 18.7 for the season, passing teammate Cristopher Sánchez in season player rankings. Though Wheeler and Sánchez both have 18.7 points, Wheeler ranks ahead on a tiebreaker with more 2025 points—20.1 vs. 15.4. Wheeler now ranks third among NL pitchers behind Misiorowski (26.1) and teammate Luzardo (23.0). It is his fourth straight top-five finish among NL pitchers:
2023—14.7 points, fifth
2024—21.4 points, first (and first overall)
2025—20.1 points, second
Wheeler also now has 143.8 career Box-Toppers points, 34th-most among all players since Box-Toppers tracking began in 1995. He trails the 33rd-ranked player, Padres pitcher Yu Darvish (144.4). Darvish, 40, announced his retirement after elbow surgery in October 2025 before reversing his decision to remain active, though he has not pitched since.
Wheeler ranks seventh among active, signed players in career points, and third among active NL pitchers, behind Chris Sale of the Braves (199.2) and Darvish (144.4).

In what could be his final career start, Scherzer, 42, won Player of the Game (7IP 6H R BB 7K W in the 5-1 win over the Reds), extending his lead among active players in career Box-Toppers points.
Scherzer now has 260.7 career points, third-most since 1995, when Box-Toppers tracking began, behind Randy Johnson (282.5) and Clayton Kershaw (280.8). Scherzer leads active players and active AL pitchers in career points ahead of Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander (250.0), who made his final career start Saturday at age 43.
Scherzer has not decided whether to pitch in 2027. He finishes 2026 with 4.0 Box-Toppers points, 81st among AL pitchers.

Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. Players earn Box-Toppers points for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
