Cardinals pitcher Dustin May is Monday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day, with a complete-game, one-hit shutout.
Also Monday, Nick Kurtz of the Athletics extends his lead among American League batters in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors.
Other top players Monday include Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler, Colt Keith of the Tigers, Eugenio Suárez of the Reds and Geraldo Perdomo of the Diamondbacks.
Player of the Day: Dustin May, Cardinals
May pitched a complete-game, one-hit shutout, striking out nine and walking one, in the 3—0 win over the Padres.
May carried a perfect game into the seventh inning before giving up a walk to Fernando Tatis Jr. Two batters later, he lost the no-hitter, giving up a single to Manny Machado, the only hit of the game. He threw 101 pitches.
It’s the second time this season May has flirted with a no-hitter. On May 27, he pitched seven no-hit innings against the Brewers but ended up losing that game despite a +11.0 game score (the highest that day for a non-Player of the Game winner). On Monday, his dominant shutout earned a +16.0 score
May earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 5.7 for the season, 33rd among all players and 18th among National League pitchers.
AL Player of the Day: Colt Keith, Tigers
Keith hit three home runs and went 3-for-4, scoring three times and driving in six runs, in the 9-3 win over the Astros.
Keith earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points as American League Player of the Day, his first points of the season, and is 57th among AL batters.
NL Batter of the Day: Eugenio Suárez, Reds
Suárez hit two home runs, including a grand slam, and went 2-for-4, scoring twice and driving in six runs, in the 12-0 win over the Mets.
AL Batter of the Day
There is no separate AL Batter of the Day for Monday because the overall AL Player of the Day is AL batter Colt Keith.
Rankings: Nick Kurtz, Athletics
Kurtz extends his lead among AL batters in 2026 Box-Toppers points after earning Player of the Game honors.
Kurtz (2HR 3-4 2R 5BI in the 11-2 win over the Pirates) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 6.0 for the season, 29th among all players. He extends his lead among AL batters, ahead of second-place Dillon Dingler of the Tigers (5.0 points).
Notable: Zack Wheeler, Phillies
Wheeler has the most 2026 Box-Toppers points among Monday’s Player of the Game winners and also now has 133.1 career points, 40th-most since player tracking began in 1995.
Wheeler (6IP 2H 0R 3BB 9K W in the 7-0 win over the Marlins) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 8.0 for the season, 14th among all players and seventh among NL pitchers.
Wheeler’s 133.1 career points trail 39th-ranked player Jason Giambi (133.4) on the “all-time” career points list. Wheeler is seventh among active, signed players in career points and third among active NL pitchers, behind Chris Sale of the Braves (190.5) and Yu Darvish of the Padres (144.4).
