Also Saturday, Angels pitcher José Soriano rises to lead American League pitchers in 2026 Box-Toppers points after earning AL Player of the Day honors. He rises to fifth place overall.

Player of the Day: Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Dodgers

Yamamoto struck out seven over 8 1/3 innings, allowing one run, one hit and no walks, in the 7-1 win over the White Sox.

Yamamoto carried a perfect game into the eighth-inning until a fielding error broke it up and held a no-hitter until allowing a ninth-inning home run to Tristan Peters.

Yamamoto earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 7.7 for the season, 15th among all players and eighth among National League pitchers.

AL Player of the Day: José Soriano, Angels

Soriano struck out five over five scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks, in the 8-0 win over the Rays.

Soriano earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points as AL Player of the Day, giving him 9.7 for the season, fifth overall and first among AL pitchers, passing previous leader Gavin Williams of the Guardians. Soriano is one of four AL pitchers with 9.7 points but leads the pack on a tiebreaker with the most 2025 Box-Toppers points (12.7), vs. Williams (11.7), Cam Schlittler of the Yankees (7.4) and Davis Martin of the White Sox (3.0).

NL Batter of the Day: J.T. Realmuto, Phillies

Realmuto hit a three-run homer and went 3-for-4, scoring once and driving in four runs, in the 9-8 win over the Brewers.

Realmuto has now earned Box-Toppers points in 12 straight seasons with his first Player of the Game honor of 2026. He earned his first points in 2015 with the Marlins and now has 55.2 career Box-Toppers points, second among all active catchers, behind Salvador Perez of the Royals (60.2). Realmuto ranks 12th among all catchers in career points since 1995.

His best season was 2021 with the Phillies when he had 7.2 Box-Toppers points, first among NL catchers. He led NL catchers in five out of six seasons from 2019 to 2024, including four straight seasons (2019-2022). He had 1.5 Box-Toppers points in 2025.

AL Batter of the Day

Samad Taylor of the Padres made his Box-Toppers debut Saturday with his first career Player of the Game honor.
