Mets pitcher Trevor Williams is Thursday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Also Thursday, Padres pitcher Joe Musgrove rises to fourth place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors. He also regains the 2022 Box-Toppers points lead among National League pitchers.

Player of the Day—Williams struck out seven over seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits and no walks, in the 10-0 win over the Marlins.

Williams earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 3.0 for the season, 154th among all players and 55th among NL pitchers.

American League Player of the Day—Tigers pitcher Beau Brieske struck out four over 6 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk, in the 2-1 win over the White Sox.

This was Brieske’s Box-Toppers debut, the first time in his career he earned Player of the Game honors. Brieske made his Major League debut April 23 and was playing in his 14th career game.

Brieske earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being AL Player of the Day, his first points of the season, and ranks 93rd among AL pitchers.

Tigers pitcher Beau Brieske is Thursday’s Box-Toppers AL Player of the Day.

American League Batter of the Day—Eugenio Suarez of the Mariners homered and went 2-for-3, scoring twice and driving in three runs, in the 8-3 win over the Blue Jays.

National League Batter of the Day—Mookie Betts of the Dodgers hit two home runs and went 2-for-3, scoring twice and driving in two runs, in the 5-3 win over the Cubs.

Betts earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points for being NL Batter of the Day, giving him 8.0 for the season, 22nd among all players and second among NL batters, behind Pete Alonso of the Mets (9.2).

Mookie Betts of the Dodgers is Thursday’s Box-Toppers NL Batter of the Day.

Rankings—Padres pitcher Joe Musgrove rises from seventh to fourth in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors Thursday.

Musgrove (7IP H 0R 4BB 8K ND in the 2-1, 10-inning win over the Giants) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 12.4 for the season, rising to first place among NL pitchers, passing previous leader Max Fried of the Braves (12.0 points), who only took the lead Wednesday.

Musgrove previously led NL pitchers from June 3 until Tuesday, July 6, when he was passed by Marlins pitcher Sandy Alcantara, who now ranks seventh overall with 11.7 points, third among NL pitchers.

Debut—Reds pitcher Reiver Sanmartin made his Box-Toppers debut Thursday with his first career Player of the Game honor.
