Box-Toppers weekly team rankings reports are normally posted each Friday, but this week’s report was delayed until after the completion of games Sunday leading into this week’s All-Star break.

Yankees players have accumulated 81.8 Box-Toppers points, picking up 5.2 since the last team rankings report July 7. They lead all teams for the sixth straight week and lead AL teams the 10th straight week. They have baseball’s best winning percentage (.696).

The Yankees are led by pitcher Gerrit Cole (11.4 Box-Toppers points, eighth among all players and fifth among AL pitchers). The Yankees top batter is Aaron Judge (6.5 Box-Toppers points, fourth among AL batters). There are 22 different Yankees players who have earned Player of the Game honors so far in 2022.

The Dodgers lead NL teams for the second week with 77.1 Box-Toppers points, picking up 11.2 points since July 7, most among all teams. It’s the second-straight week they have been Box-Toppers’ hottest team of the week. The Dodgers maintain their second-place rank, but gain ground on the Yankees. On July 7, they trailed by 10.7 points; now they trail by 4.7. The Dodgers have the best winning percentage among NL teams (.667).

The Dodgers are led by pitcher Julio Urias (9.7 Box-Toppers points, 12th among all players and fifth among NL pitchers). The Dodgers top batter is Mookie Betts (8.0 Box-Toppers points, second among NL batters). There are 20 different Dodgers players who have earned Player of the Game honors so far in 2022.

Two teams made five-spot jumps in Box-Toppers team rankings, tied for the biggest rise:

  • The Seattle Mariners rose from 15th to 10th with 60.3 Box-Toppers points, picking up 10.0 points since July 7, most among AL teams.

  • The San Francisco Giants rose from 16th to 11th with 59.6 Box-Toppers points, picking up 10.2 since July 7.

The Los Angeles Angels had the biggest decline in team rankings, falling four spots from 14th to 18th place with 52.4 points, picking up 1.0 point in the past week.

The Chicago Cubs had a net decline of Box-Toppers points (-1.0) since July 7. They won only one game in the nine they played during the past 10 days, good for 1.0 Box-Toppers point. But they also this week designated for assignment pitcher Matt Swarmer, who had earned 2.0 Box-Toppers points this season. Removing his points from the team’s total gave the Cubs the 1.0-point decline, as they fell from 26th to 29th place with 35.9 points.

The Oakland Athletics rank in 30th and last place in Box-Toppers team rankings for the sixth straight week with 35.0 points, picking up 6.5 points in the past week.
