The New York Yankees regain the lead in Box-Toppers weekly team rankings report.

Here are Box-Toppers 2022 team rankings through games of Thursday, June. 9. The column BTP shows the number of Box-Toppers points players on the team accumulated this season. The column BTP/wk shows have many points teams accumulated from June 3 to June 9. The column Wk ago shows the team's rank on June 2.

Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Brewers, leaders for the past three weeks, fall to second place but maintain their lead among National League teams. Plus, the San Diego Padres are the week’s hottest team.

Yankees players have accumulated 51.7 Box-Toppers points, picking up 7.0 in the past week, most among American League teams. They lead AL teams in Box-Toppers points for the fifth straight week and return to the overall lead they held in the May 12 team rankings. The Yankees also have baseball’s best winning percentage (.719).

The Yankees are led by pitcher Nestor Cortes (8.4 Box-Toppers points, ninth among all players and fifth among AL pitchers). The Yankees top batter is Aaron Judge (5.5 Box-Toppers points, fourth among AL batters). There are 18 different Yankees players who have earned Player of the Game honors so far in 2022.

The Brewers lead NL teams with 46.2 Box-Toppers points but fall to second overall after earning no Box-Toppers points in the past week, losing all six games they played between June 3 and June 9. This is the sixth straight week the Brewers have led NL teams. The Brewers have the NL’s fourth-best winning percentage (.559), behind the Los Angeles Dodgers (.649), New York Mets (.644) and San Diego Padres (.614). The Dodgers are fourth in Box-Toppers team rankings (44.7 Box-Toppers points), the Mets are third (45.6) and the Padres are fifth (44.0).

The Brewers are led by pitcher Eric Lauer (6.7 Box-Toppers points, 16th overall and fifth among NL pitchers). The Brewers top batter is Willy Adames (3.4 Box-Toppers points, 14th among NL batters). There are 15 different Brewers players who have earned Player of the Game honors so far in 2022. 

The San Diego Padres are the week’s hottest team, picking up 7.6 Box-Toppers points in the past week. The Padres now have 44.0 Box-Toppers points, rising from seventh to fifth among all teams. 

The Cleveland Guardians made the biggest jump in Box-Toppers team rankings this week, rising five spots from 21st to 16th with 31.6 Box-Toppers points, picking up 6.4 in the past week.

The Texas Rangers had the biggest drop in Box-Toppers team rankings, falling five spots from 15th to 20th with 30.5 Box-Toppers points, picking up 1.5 in the past week.

The Oakland Athletics fall from 28th to 30th and last place in Box-Toppers team rankings with 20.0 points, picking up no points in the past week. The Cincinnati Reds, the lowest-ranked team for the past seven weeks, rise to 29th place with 22.0 points, picking up 3.0 in the past week.

Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.

Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. Players earn Box-Toppers points for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
