Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Dodgers regain the Box-Toppers team rankings lead among National League teams and the Atlanta Braves are the hottest team since the All-Star break.
The White Sox rise from third to first place overall with players accumulating 73.0 Box-Toppers points on the season, 6.5 in the past week. They pass the Milwaukee Brewers who led the previous two team rankings reports on July 1 and July 11. The Brewers fall to fourth overall and second among NL teams with 70.9 Box-Toppers points, picking up 3.7 points in the past week.
The White Sox led team rankings for seven of eight weeks from May 6 to June 24, before the Brewers took the lead. The White Sox have baseball’s third-best winning percentage (.604), behind the San Francisco Giants (.635) and the Boston Red Sox (.608). The Giants are eighth in Box-Toppers team rankings (66.2 Box-Toppers points) and the Red Sox are fifth (69.6).
The White Sox have led AL teams in Box-Toppers points for seven straight weeks and 11 of the past 12 weeks.
The White Sox are led by pitcher Lance Lynn with 8.7 Box-Toppers points, sixth among AL pitchers. White Sox’ top batter is Jose Abreu with 7.0 Box-Toppers points, third among AL batters. There are 22 White Sox players who have earned Player of the Game honors in the team’s 58 wins this season.
The Dodgers rise to lead NL teams with 71.0 Box-Toppers points, picking up 4.2 in the past week. While the Dodgers pass the Brewers to become the top NL team, they fell in overall team rankings from second to third place, passed by the White Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays (71.4 points, picking up 6.5 in the past week). The Dodgers have the NL’s second-best winning percentage (.602) behind the Giants (.635).
The Dodgers are led by pitcher Clayton Kershaw with 11.4 Box-Toppers points, seventh among all players and fifth among National League pitchers. Dodgers’ top batter is Max Muncy with 5.0 Box-Toppers points, eighth among NL batters. There are 21 Dodgers players who have earned Player of the Game honors in the team’s 59 wins this season.
The Atlanta Braves are the hottest team since the All-Star break, picking up 9.2 Box-Toppers points since the last team rankings report July 11. The Braves also had the biggest jump in team rankings, climbing six spots from 18th to 12th place with 60.9 Box-Toppers points. However, the Braves won only three games they completed in the past week. Most of their rise comes from player acquisition—they acquired left fielder Joc Pederson and his 3.5 Box-Toppers points in 2021 in a trade with the Cubs and catcher Stephen Vogt and his 1.5 points in a trade with the Diamondbacks.
The Cubs meanwhile, losing Pederson, had a net loss in points among teams this week (-0.5), falling from 23rd to 25th place overall with 47.4 Box-Toppers points.
The Cincinnati Reds had the biggest drop in rankings among all teams since July 11, falling six spots from 12th to 18th with 56.4 Box-Toppers points, picking up 0.0 points in the past week.
The Baltimore Orioles maintain 30th and last place for the second straight team rankings report with 34.7 Box-Toppers points, picking up 3.0 points in the past week.
