Meanwhile, Reds pitcher Trevor Bauer rises to lead National League pitchers, rising to second place overall. Plus, Luke Voit of the Yankees rises to lead American League batters and Jason Heyward of the Cubs maintains his lead among NL batters.

Bieber has 7.7 Box-Toppers points through the games of Aug. 20, rising from second place last week to first overall this week, gaining 3.0 Box-Toppers points in the past week. He passes last week’s overall leader, Angels pitcher Dylan Bundy (6.0), who falls to third place overall. Bieber also passes Bundy for the lead among AL pitchers.

Bauer rises to lead NL pitchers with 6.0 Box-Toppers points, rising to second place overall from fourth place last week, picking up 2.0 points in the past week. Bauer passes last week’s NL pitching leader, Cubs pitcher Yu Darvish (4.7), who falls to third among NL pitchers. Bauer ranked second among NL pitchers last week.

Luke Voit of the Yankees rises to lead AL batters with 4.5 Box-Toppers points and ranks eighth place overall, the only batter among the Box-Toppers season player rankings top 10. Voit passes last week’s AL batting leader, teammate Aaron Judge (4.0), who falls to second.

Jason Heyward of the Cubs maintains his lead among NL batters with 3.7 Box-Toppers points, picking up no points in the past week. Heyward ranks 23rd among all players.

So far this season, 267 different players have earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors. There are 51 players who have more than 2.0 Box-Toppers points. There are 31 players who have made their Box-Toppers debut so far this season—10 in the past week—the first time in their career they earned Player of the Game honors. There have been 363 games completed in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season in which 900 are scheduled, meaning 40.3 percent of scheduled games have been played.

About Box-Toppers—Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.

Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. Players earn Box-Toppers points for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
