The Tampa Bay Rays rise to lead Box-Toppers weekly team rankings report.

Here are Box-Toppers 2018 season team rankings, through the games of Thursday,April 18. The column BTP shows the number of Box-Toppers points players on the team accumulated this season. The column BTP/wk shows have many points teams accumulated from April 12 to 18. The column Wk ago shows the team's rank as of April 11.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Dodgers rise to lead National League teams and the Chicago Cubs are the week’s hottest team.

Rays players have accumulated 18.7 Box-Toppers points through the games of April 18, picking up 4.5 points in the past week. They rise from second place last week, passing previous leader, the Seattle Mariners, who fall to second with 17.7 Box-Toppers points after only earning 1.7 points in the past week. The Rays also now have baseball’s best winning percentage (.737).

The Rays are led by pitcher Blake Snell, who has 4.0 Box-Toppers points, second among American League pitchers. Top batter is right fielder Avisail Garcia, who has 1.5 Box-Toppers points. Ten different Rays players have earned Box-Toppers points so far this season.

The Dodgers rise to lead NL teams with 15.2 Box-Toppers points, fourth among all teams. The Dodgers earned 6.0 points in the past week, rising from ninth place overall a week ago.

The Dodgers pass last week’s top NL team, the New York Mets, who fall from fifth to 11th place overall with 12.2 points, picking up 2.0 points in the past week.

The Dodgers are led by right fielder Cody Bellinger, who has 5.2 Box-Toppers points, second among all players and first among all NL players. Top pitcher is Julio Urias, who has 2.0 points. Ten different Dodgers players have earned Box-Toppers points so far this season.

The Chicago Cubs are the hottest team of the past week, picking up 6.4 Box-Toppers points from April 11 to 18, most of any team. The Cubs also have the biggest rise of the week, gaining 12 spots from 21st to ninth place overall, with 12.4 Box-Toppers points.

The Detroit Tigers had the biggest decline in the past week, falling from 10th place overall to 21st after picking up only 1.0 point in the past week. The Tigers now have 9.7 points for the season.

The Miami Marlins rank in 30th and last place among all teams with 5.7 Box-Toppers points, picking up 1.7 points in the past week, falling from 27th place last week.

Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. Players earn Box-Toppers points for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
