Guardians pitcher Gavin Williams and Brewers’ reliever JoJo Romero earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors in Thursday’s League Championship Series games.
Williams earned the win as the Cleveland Guardians edged the Tampa Bay Rays to take a 2-1 series lead in the American League Championship Series. Romero, meanwhile, led the Milwaukee Brewers as they swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series.

Turang hit a game-tying, fourth-inning solo home run and went 1-for-2, scoring once and driving in one run, as the Brewers prevailed.

Other Player of the Game winners Friday include Astros pitcher Cristian Javier, Dodgers pitcher Blake Snell, Brayan Rocchio of the Guardians, Brice Turang of the Brewers and Padres closing pitcher Mason Miller.

Also Wednesday, Phillies pitcher Cristopher Sánchez bolsters his lead in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors. In addition, Dodgers pitcher Shohei Ohtani rises to second place in season player rankings, earning Player of the Game honors for a second straight day. He did it Tuesday as a designated hitter and Wednesday as a starting pitcher.

Other Player of the Game winners Monday include Dillon Dingler of the Tigers and Christian Yelich of the Brewers.

Joining him as daily honors recipients are Brice Turang (National League Player of the Day) and Aaron Zavala (American League Batter of the Day).

The All-MLB team is selected with half the vote coming from fans and half coming from an expert panel. Unlike the selections for baseball’s All-Star Game, players are chosen not based on their affiliation with the American League or National League. Instead, players are selected from all Major League Baseball teams, regardless of league affiliation, and are designated as “First Team” or “Second Team.”

Snell becomes the first player to win Player of the Game honors three times this postseason and Polanco becomes the third player—and first batter—to win Player of the Game honors at least twice this postseason.

deGrom struck out five over four scoreless and hitless innings, allowing one one walk, in the 4-0 win over the Royals. deGrom did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because he exited before pitching the required five innings to earn the win.
