Player of the Day: Cam Schlittler, Yankees
Schlittler struck out 13 over six scoreless innings, allowing four hits and no walks, in the 5-0 win over the Reds.
Schlittler earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 11.7 for the season, rising from ninth to third place overall. He trails Phillies pitcher Cristopher Sánchez (13.7 points) and Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski (13.0 points).
Schlittler climbs to first among AL pitchers, passing previous leader Bryan Woo of the Mariners (10.4 points), who only took the lead Thursday.
Schlittler becomes the seventh player this season to reach 10 Box-Toppers points. It is his first season to reach that milestone. He earned 7.4 points in his 2025 rookie season with the Yankees, 38th among AL pitchers.
NL Player of the Day: Kyle Freeland, Rockies
Freeland struck out eight over 7 1/3 innings, allowing two runs, four hits and no walks, in the 4-3 win over the Pirates. Freeland did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the Pirates tied the game after he exited.
Freeland earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points as National League Player of the Day, giving him 2.7 for the season, 54th among NL pitchers.
NL Batter of the Day: Carson Kelly, Cubs
Kelly hit a grand slam and went 2-for-4, scoring three times and driving in six runs, in the 16-2 win over the Blue Jays.
AL Batter of the Day: Lawrence Butler, Athletics
Butler homered and went 2-for-4, scoring four times and driving in one run, in the 12-11, 10-inning win over the Angels.
Debut
Alejandro Osuna of the Rangers made his Box-Toppers debut Friday with his first career Player of the Game honor.
Osuna (2B 2-3 R 2BI in the 9-7 win over the Padres) made his Major League debut May 25, 2025, and was playing in his 105th career game.
