* Tied. (Box-Toppers point ties are more common among rookie players. Season point ties are generally broken by players’ previous season totals and most rookies do not have previous season totals.)
Rookie of the Year winners for 2025—Braves catcher Drake Baldwin and Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz—are among players on the Box-Toppers 2025 All-Rookie Team.
Baldwin was Box-Toppers’ choice for NL Rookie of the Year. While his 6.5 Box-Toppers points for the season trailed pitchers Cade Horton (9.7) and Nolan McLean (7.7), Box-Toppers doubles batter point totals for award comparisons to ensure they remain competitive with pitchers. This gave Baldwin an adjusted total of 13.0.
In the American League, however, Box-Toppers’ choice deviated from the writers' vote. While Nick Kurtz won the official AL Rookie of the Year, Box-Toppers selected Athletics pitcher Jacob Lopez, who led all rookies with 11.4 Box-Toppers points.
Box-Toppers’ All-Rookie Team consists of the points leaders at each position, regardless of league, featuring nine batters and seven pitchers:
First base
Nick Kurtz, Athletics (4.5 points), 17th among all first basemen, tied for 23rd among all rookies and tied for 235th overall. While he finished first in AL Rookie of the Year voting, his adjusted Box-Toppers point total of 9.0 was fourth among AL rookies.
Second base
Kristian Campbell, Red Sox (2.5 points), 24th among all second basemen, tied for 48th among all rookies and tied for 397th overall.
Shortstop
Colson Montgomery, White Sox (4.5 points), 11th among all shortstops, tied for 23rd among all rookies and tied for 235th overall.
Third base
Matt Shaw, Cubs (2.5 points), 24th among all third basemen, tied for 48th among all rookies and tied for 397th overall.

The Athletics, Cubs, and Yankees followed closely with two selections each.

About Box-Toppers
Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day. (No Box-Toppers points are awarded in postseason games.)
