Yankees pitcher Will Warren is Friday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Also Friday, Blue Jays pitcher Dylan Cease, second overall in Box-Toppers season player rankings, extends his lead among American League pitchers after earning Player of the Game honors.

Other Player of the Game winners Friday include Padres pitcher Germán Márquez, Javier Báez of the Tigers and Sal Stewart of the Reds.

Player of the Day: Will Warren, Yankees

Warren struck out seven over 6 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and no walks, in the 2-0 win over the Cubs.

Warren earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 5.7 for the season, 76th among all players and 31st among AL pitchers.

NL Player of the Day: Germán Márquez, Padres.

Stewart earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points as NL Batter of the Day, bringing his season total to 9.5, 24th among all players and second among NL batters, behind Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers (13.7 points). It should be noted that Ohtani has earned only 5.0 of his points as a batter while the other 8.7 have come as a pitcher. So Stewart has the most points among all full-time batters in the Major Leagues, moving ahead of Dansby Swanson of the Cubs, whose 8.2 points are now third among NL batters.

Cease maintains second place in Box-Toppers season player rankings, extending his lead among AL pitchers, after earning Player of the Game honors Friday.

Cease (6IP 3H R 3BB 7K ND in the 3-1 win over the Cardinals) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 17.4 for the season. He trails overall leader Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski (17.7) by 0.3 points. He extends his lead among AL pitchers, ahead of second-place Cam Schlittler of the Yankees (15.7 points).

Diamondbacks closing pitcher Brandyn Garcia made his Box-Toppers debut Friday with his first career Player of the Game honor.
