Rays lead Box-Toppers team rankings for 9th week; Dodgers maintain NL lead

The Tampa Bay Rays maintain their lead in Box-Toppers team rankings for the ninth straight week.

Here are Box-Toppers 2023 team rankings through games of Thursday, June 1. The column BTP shows the number of Box-Toppers points players on the team accumulated this season. The column BTP/wk shows have many points teams accumulated from May 26 to June 1 . The column Wk ago shows the team's rank on May 25.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Dodgers maintain their lead among National League teams and the Arizona Diamondbacks are the week’s hottest team.

Rays players have accumulated 49.8 Box-Toppers points this season, picking up 3.7 points in the past week. They lead over the second-place Texas Rangers (45.5) by 4.3 points and over the NL-leading Dodgers (43.3) by 6.5 points.

The Rays have baseball’s best winning percentage (0.690) and are led by pitcher Shane McClanahan (8.7 Box-Toppers points, fourth among all players and third among AL pitchers). Rays’ top batter is Randy Arozarena (6.0 points, third among AL batters). There are 15 different Rays players who have earned Box-Toppers points so far in 2023.

The Dodgers lead NL teams for the fifth straight week with 43.3 Box-Toppers points, picking up 3.5 in the past week, maintaining their third-place ranking overall.

The Dodgers are tied with the Diamondbacks for best winning percentage among NL teams (0.596). The Diamondbacks rank second among NL teams in Box-Toppers points (42.5), fourth among all teams, just 0.8 points behind the Dodgers.

The Dodgers are led by pitcher Clayton Kershaw (6.1 points), 12th overall and third among NL pitchers. Top batter is Max Muncy (5.0 points), first among NL batters. There are 18 different Dodgers players who have earned Box-Toppers points so far in 2023.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are the week’s hottest team, picking up 6.7 Box-Toppers points in the past week, most of any team, rising from fifth to fourth place overall with 42.5 points.

The Cincinnati Reds had the biggest jump in rankings this week, rising five spots from 26th to 21st place with 30.4 Box-Toppers points, picking up 6.5 points in the past week.

The Baltimore Orioles had the biggest decline among all teams in the past week, falling four spots from fourth to eighth place with 39.2 points, picking up 3.0 points in the past week.

The Oakland Athletics rank 30th and last in Box-Toppers team rankings for the seventh week in a row with 13.5 Box-Toppers points, picking up 2.0 points in the past week.

Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. Players earn Box-Toppers points for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
