Pirates pitcher Roansy Contreras is Thursday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Contreras struck out eight over 6 2/3 innings, allowing one run, five hits and two walks, in the 4-3 win over the Reds.

Contreras earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, his first points of the season, and is 45th in Box-Toppers season player rankings.

American League Player of the Day—Anthony Rizzo of the Yankees went 3-for-3, scoring twice and driving in one run, in the 9-3 win over the Angels.

Rizzo earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being AL Player of the Day, giving him 2.7 for the season, 19th among all players and second among AL batters, behind Wander Franco of the Rays (3.0).
