Other Player of the Game winners Tuesday include Twins pitcher Taj Bradley and Tyler Tolbert of the Royals.
Player of the Day: Zack Wheeler, Phillies
Wheeler struck out 14 over seven innings, allowing one run, four hits and no walks, in the 4-1 win over the Reds.
Wheeler earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 11.0 for the season, rising to eighth place overall and fifth among National League pitchers.
He becomes the 12th player to reach 10 Box-Toppers points in 2026. It is his seventh season with 10 or more points and his sixth in a row. His best season was 2024 with the Phillies, when he led all players with 21.4 points. In 2025, he had 20.1 points with the Phillies, third overall and second among NL pitchers.
Wheeler also now has 136.1 career Box-Toppers points, rising to 37th among all players since tracking began in 1995. With his 2.0 points Tuesday, he passes Red Sox pitcher Sonny Gray (134.3) on the “all-time” career points list and now trails 36th-ranked player Andy Pettitte (138.5).
Wheeler ranks seventh among active, signed players in career points, and third among active NL pitchers, behind Chris Sale of the Braves (190.5) and Yu Darvish of the Padres (144.4).
AL Player of the Day: Taj Bradley, Twins
Bradley struck out 10 over seven innings, allowing one run, three hits and no walks, in the 3-1 win over the Guardians.

Bradley becomes the 13th player to reach 10 Box-Toppers points in 2026. It is his second season with 10 or more points. Previously, he did it in 2024 with the Rays, when he had 12.1 points, 30th overall and 14th among AL pitchers. In 2025, he had 6.0 points with the Rays and Twins, 51st among AL pitchers.
Tuesday’s Sidelights Sidebar
Box-Toppers review of the day’s top pitchers, overlooked top performers & lowest B-T game scores:
⬛ Houser allows no hits or runs over 5+ innings, but is not Player of the Game in Giants’ loss
NL Batter of the Day: Ryan O’Hearn, Pirates
O’Hearn hit three home runs, including a grand slam and two three-run homers, in the 12-4 win over the Braves. O’Hearn went 4-for-5, scoring three times and driving in 10 runs.
O’Hearn recorded a +12.0 Box-Toppers game score, highest among all batters to win Player of the Game honors in 2026, beating the +10.0 recorded July 1 by Dansby Swanson of the Cubs (3HR 3-5 4R 8BI in the 23-3 win over the Padres).
Though it’s the top batting score of 2026, O’Hearn’s +12.0 game score ranks 47th overall this season—behind 46 pitchers. That includes Tuesday’s Player of the Day, Zack Wheeler, who recorded a +15.0 game score. (Taj Bradley also recorded a +12.0 game score Tuesday, which ranks behind O’Hearn’s as the 56th-highest by a Player of the Game winner in 2026.)
While the +12.0 game score is the highest for a batter this season, the highest score for a batter since 1995, when Box-Toppers tracking began, is +15.0 by Anthony Rendon of the Nationals on April 30, 2017, (3HR 2B 6-6 5R 10BI in the 23-5 win over the Mets). The highest game score of 2025 was +14.0 by Nick Kurtz of the Athletics (4HR 2B 6-6 6R 8BI in the 15-3 win over the Astros) on July 25.
Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski recorded the season’s highest game score (+23.0) on June 12 in the 6-0 win over the Phillies (CG H 0R 0BB 15K W).
O’Hearn earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points as NL Batter of the Day, giving him 5.0 for the season, 12th among NL batters.
AL Batter of the Day: Tyler Tolbert, Royals
Tolbert homered and went 5-for-6, scoring four times and driving in two runs, in the 16-12 win over the Mets.
This is the second straight day Tolbert has won Box-Toppers AL Batter of the Day honors. He also did it Monday (HR 2B 5-5 3R 2BI in the 15-1 win over the Phillies). He earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points each day, giving him 3.0 for the season, 31st among AL batters.
New leader: Jacob Misiorowski, Brewers
Misiorowski climbs from second to first place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors Tuesday.
Misiorowski (7IP 3H 3R 0BB 11K W in the 4-3 win over the Cardinals) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 15.0 for the season, passing previous leader Cristopher Sánchez (14.7), who had led all but four days since May 27. Misiorowski briefly took the lead June 26 before Sánchez regained it June 30.
Misiorowski also leads NL pitchers ahead of Sánchez.
Debut
Two players made their Box-Toppers debut Tuesday, each with their first career Player of the Game honor:
Justin Foscue of the Rangers (HR 2-2 2R 2BI in the 8-3 win over the Angels) made his Major League debut April 5, 2024, and was playing in his 60th career game.
Rockies pitcher Juan Mejia (2IP H 0R 0BB K W in the 4-3 win over the Dodgers) made his Major League debut April 24, 2025, and was playing in his 92nd career game.
Scoring
Wheeler earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points as Player of the Day.
Bradley earns 1.7 points as AL Player of the Day.
O’Hearn and Tolbert each earn 1.5 points as their league’s Batter of the Day.
All of Tuesday’s other Player of the Game winners (listed in the chart) earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point.
