BTP: Box-Toppers points

Notable: Jacob deGrom, Rangers

deGrom rises to 20th place in career Box-Toppers points since player tracking began in 1995, after earning Player of the Game honors Tuesday.

deGrom (7IP 4H 2R 0BB 9K W in the 4-2 win over the Guardians) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 160.9 career points, passing John Smoltz (160.9) on the “all-time” career points list. (Though tied at 160.9, deGrom takes the lead because his points are more recent. Also, it should be noted that Smoltz began his career in 1988, before the 1995 advent of Box-Toppers. If his entire career were tracked, he would have an estimated 255 career points.)

deGrom now trails 19th-ranked player Roger Clemens (164.8). (Like Smoltz, Clemens began his career prior to the 1995 start of Box-Toppers tracking. He would have an estimated 320 points if his entire career from 1984 were tracked.)

deGrom ranks fifth among active, signed players in career points, fourth among active AL pitchers.

He also now has 9.7 Box-Toppers points in 2026, 12th among all players and sixth among AL pitchers.
