About Box-Toppers’ team abbreviations
Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes rises to lead this week’s Box-Toppers player rankings report.
Skenes takes the top overall spot and also is the new leader among National League pitchers. Also, Michael Harris II of the Braves is this week’s new leader among NL batters.
Meanwhile, Max Fried of the Yankees continues his lead among American League pitchers and Jeremiah Jackson of the Orioles again tops AL batters.
Skenes leads
Skenes rises from seventh place last week to first overall this week, passing last week’s leader, Yankees pitcher Max Fried. While three players—Skenes, Fried and Angels pitcher José Soriano—are tied with 7.0 points, Skenes takes the top spot via the tiebreaker (higher 2025 point total). Skenes earned 21.1 points last season (second overall), compared to Fried’s 14.4 and Soriano’s 12.7.
Skenes also rises to first place among National League pitchers, passing last week’s leader, Tyler Glasnow of the Dodgers (5.7 points), who falls to fifth. Skenes leads NL pitchers ahead of second-place Braxton Ashcraft of the Pirates (6.7 points).
This is the first time Skenes has led Box-Toppers season player rankings at any point in a season.
National League batters

Box-Toppers almanac
Batters won 45.3% of all Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors this week, increasing their share of Box-Toppers points won this season to more than 40%.
In the 95 games played this week, batters won Player of the Game honors in 43 games, while pitchers won in 52 games.
Batters have now won 40.5% of Box-Toppers points awarded this season, ahead of their record-low 37.2% share they posted in 2024. Batters have exceeded 40% of points won just once in the past five seasons (2023: 40.7%).
Pitchers have dominated in winning Player of the Game in recent seasons. While batters have struggled to reach parity with pitchers in recent seasons, it wasn’t always this way: From 1995 to 2009, batters generally won half or more of all Box-Toppers points each season. But their share of points dropped precipitously after 2009.
About Box-Toppers
