Other Player of the Game winners Monday include Cardinals pitcher Ryan Fernandez, Ty France of the Padres, Kody Clemens of the Twins and Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers.
Player of the Day: Ranger Suárez, Red Sox
Suárez struck out 10 over eight scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk, in the 5-0 win over the Blue Jays.
Suárez carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning before giving up a lead-off double to Jesús Sánchez, the only hit he allowed.
Suárez earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 5.0 for the season, sixth overall and third among American League pitchers.
NL Player of the Day, Ryan Fernandez, Cardinals
Fernandez struck out four over two scoreless and hitless innings of middle relief, walking none, in the 4-2 win over the Pirates.
Fernandez earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, his first points of the season, and is 103rd in season player rankings, 41st among National League pitchers.
This was Fernandez’s Box-Toppers debut, his first career Player of the Game honor. Fernandez made his Major League debut April 3, 2024, and was playing in his 98th career game.
NL Batter of the Day: Ty France, Padres
France tripled, doubled and went 2-for-3, scoring once and driving in four runs, in the 9-7 win over the Cubs.
France earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 2.5 for the season, ninth among NL batters.
AL Batter of the Day: Kody Clemens, Twins
Clemens hit a three-run home run and went 2-for-5, scoring once and driving in five runs, in the 11-4 win over the Mariners.
New leader: Max Fried, Yankees
Fried rises to first place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors Monday.
Fried (6IP 4H 0R 2BB 5K W in the 4-2 win over the Rangers) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 7.0 for the season, tied with previous leader, Angels pitcher José Soriano, but Fried wins the tiebreaker based on higher 2025 points (14.4 vs. 12.7). Fried also takes the lead among AL pitchers with Soriano falling to second place.
Notable: Shohei Ohtani, Dodgers
Ohtani won his third Box-Toppers Player of the Game honor of the season Monday, but his first as a batter.
Ohtani (2B 3-5 2R BI in the 5-4 win over the Marlins) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 3.7 for the season, 20th among all players, third among NL batters and eighth among NL pitchers.
Ohtani earned his two previous Player of the Game honors this season as a pitcher. Ohtani now has 94.9 career Box-Toppers points with 50.2 earned as a pitcher and 44.7 earned as a batter.
Ohtani earned Player of the Game honors five times in 2025—three as a batter and twice as a pitcher. He last earned Player of the Game honors as a batter on June 27. He led NL batters in Box-Toppers points in 2024, earning 11.0 points, all as a batter. Ohtani did not pitch in 2024 as he recovered from elbow surgery.

Debut
Ryan Vilade of the Rays made his Box-Toppers debut Monday with his first career Player of the Game honor.
Vilade (3-4 0R 2BI in the 3-2 win over the Guardians) made his Major League debut Sept. 18, 2021, and was playing in his 43rd career game.
Max Scherzer, 41, placed on the 15-day injured list with right forearm tendinitis & left ankle inflammation. He’s earned 1.0 Box-Toppers point in 2026. His 257.7 career B-T points are 3rd-most since 1995 & 1st among active players. #BlueJays
