Diamondbacks pitcher Eduardo Rodríguez is Thursday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Also Thursday, José Ramírez of the Guardians rises to first among American League batters after earning AL Batter of the Day honors, passing Riley Greene of the Tigers, who led the category for nearly three months.

Other Player of the Game winners Thursday include Tigers pitcher Rafael Montero and Ozzie Albies of the Braves.

Player of the Day

Rodríguez struck out eight over seven innings, allowing one run, six hits and one walk, in the 8-2 win over the Rockies.

Rodríguez earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 3.7 for the season, 202nd among all players and 65th among National League pitchers.

American League Player of the Day is Tigers pitcher Rafael Montero.

American League Player of the Day

Tigers pitcher Rafael Montero struck out two over 1 2/3 scoreless and hitless innings, allowing no walks, in the 4-3, 11-inning win over the Twins. Montero pitched in the 10th and 11th inning, closing the game and earning the win.

Montero earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being AL Player of the Day, his first points of the season, and is 126th among AL pitchers, 26th among AL closers.

National League Batter of the Day is Ozzie Albies of the Braves.

Ozzie Albies of the Braves homered, doubled and went 3-for-4, scoring once and driving in three runs, in the 4-3 win over the Mets.

American League Batter of the Day is José Ramírez of the Guardians.

American League Batter of the Day

José Ramírez of the Guardians doubled and went 3-for-4, scoring three times and driving in one run, in the 9-4 win over the Marlins.

Ramírez earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points for being AL Batter of the Day, giving him 9.5 for the season, most among Thursday’s Player of the Game winners, 27th among all players and rising to first among AL batters, passing previous leader Riley Greene of the Tigers (9.0), who held the lead since May 16 and now falls to second place.
