Also Friday, two players rise in Box-Toppers season player rankings top 10 list after both earned Player of the Game honors: Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes rises to fourth place and Red Sox pitcher Garrett Crochet rises to fifth place.
Player of the Day
Morton struck out 10 over five scoreless innings, allowing five hits and one walk, in the 2-0 win over the Angels.
Morton earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 3.0 for the season, 132nd among all players and 43rd among American League pitchers.
Morton also now has 116.5 career Box-Toppers points, 59th-most among all players since Box-Toppers tracking began in 1995. With his 2.0 points Friday, he passes four players on the “all-time” career points list—Josh Beckett (114.9), Tim Lincecum (115.0), Torii Hunter (115.9) and Todd Helton (116.4). Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes rises from seventh to fourth place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors Friday.
Skenes (5IP 4H 0R 2BB 5K ND in the 2-1, 10-inning win over the Cubs) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 9.4 for the season. He ranks second among NL pitchers behind Zack Wheeler of the Phillies (12.1 points).
Crochet rises to fifth

Crochet (8.1IP 4H R BB 7K ND in the 2-1, 10-inning win over the Yankees) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 9.4 for the season. He ranks third among AL pitchers behind Tarik Skubal of the Tigers (10.7 points) and Carlos Rodón of the Yankees (9.7 points).
