Alejandro Kirk of the Blue Jays, who homered and went 3-for-3, scoring three times and driving in two runs, is Box-Toppers Player of the Game in Friday’s World Series Game 1.
The Toronto Blue Jays win 11-4 to take a 1-0 lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the best-of-seven-game series.
Kirk hit a fourth-inning single and scored the Blue Jays’ first run of the game on Daulton Varsho’s homer. He hit a sixth-inning single and subsequently scored the team’s fourth run when Nathan Lukes walked with the bases loaded. And he hit a sixth-inning, two -run homer, driving in Vladimir Guerrero Jr., scoring the 11th run of the game, capping off the Blue Jays’ nine-run inning.
Kirk earned 7.0 Box-Toppers points in 2025, 115th among all players, 17th among American League batters and second among AL catchers, behind Salvador Perez of the Royals (9.5). This is Kirk’s first Player of the Game honor of the 2025 postseason.
Kirk had a Box-Toppers game score Friday of +5.0. That was the same score as another Blue Jays batter, Addison Barger, who hit a sixth-inning grand slam, putting the Blue Jays ahead 9-2. Barger went 2-for-2, scoring once and driving in four runs. Though both Barger and Kirk had +5.0 game scores, Kirk held the tiebreaking advantage with more at bats—three vs. two, to win Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors.
Blue Jays top pitcher, reliever Seranthony Domínguez, who earned the win, recorded a +3.1 Box-Toppers game score (1.1IP 0H 0R 0BB 2K W).
Blue Jays starting pitcher Trey Yesavage recorded a -2.0 Box-Toppers game score (4IP 4H 2R 3BB 5K ND). Blue Jays reliever Braydon Fisher recorded the team’s lowest game score (-3.0), giving up two runs to the Dodgers in the seventh inning (1IP H 2R BB 2K ND).
Dodgers starting pitcher Blake Snell recorded the game’s lowest Box-Toppers game score in the loss of -12.0 (5IP 8H 5R 3BB 4K L). Snell had won Player of the Game honors in each of his three previous postseason starts, most of any player in 2025 (Sept. 30, Oct. 6 and Oct. 13). He had allowed only two runs and six hits over a combined 21 innings in those three starts.
Two Dodgers relievers also had low Box-Toppers game scores. Emmet Sheehan had a -8.9 game score (0.1IP 2H 3R BBB 0K ND) and Anthony Banda had a -8.8 game score (0.2IP 3H R 0BB 0K ND).
Dodgers top batter Shohei Ohtani recorded a 0.0 game score (HR 1-4 R 2BI).

About Box-Toppers
Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day. (No Box-Toppers points are awarded in postseason games.)
