Burnes also leads American League pitchers. Meanwhile, Tyler Glasnow of the Dodgers leads National League pitchers, Andres Gimenez of the Guardians leads AL batters and Seiya Suzuki of the Cubs leads NL batters.

Burnes leads

Burnes has 3.7 Box-Toppers points in 2024, first overall, ahead of Mariners pitcher Logan Gilbert (3.0), who ranks second overall and second among AL pitchers. Though seven players have earned 3.0 points in 2024, Gilbert ranks first among them since he has the most 2023 Box-Toppers points (13.4).

Burnes earned 2.0 Box-Toppers points March 28 as overall Player of the Day and 1.7 points April 9 as AL Player of the Day.

Burnes earned 11.7 Box-Toppers points in 2023 with the Brewers, 31st overall and 13th among NL pitchers.

National League pitchers

Tyler Glasnow of the Dodgers leads with 3.0 Box-Toppers points, third among all players. He ranks ahead of second-place NL pitcher, Evan Phillips of the Dodgers (3.0). Though both Glasnow and Phillips have 3.0 points in 2024, Glasnow ranks higher because he had more 2023 points—12.4 vs. 1.0.

American League batters

Andres Gimenez of the Guardians leads with 3.0 Box-Toppers points, fifth among all players, ahead of second-place Aaron Judge of the Yankees (2.5 points).

National League batters

Seiya Suzuki of the Cubs leads with 2.5 Box-Toppers points, 12th among all players, ahead of second-place Lane Thomas of the Nationals (2.0 points).

In the past week, batters won Player of the Game honors in 32 of the 88 games (36.4 percent) while pitchers won in 56 of the 88 (63.6 percent). Last season, batters won 40.7 percent of all Player of the Game honors while pitchers won 59.3 percent.

Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. Players earn Box-Toppers points for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
