The Los Angeles Dodgers lead Box-Toppers first weekly team rankings report of the 2024 season.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Royals lead American League teams and are the hottest team of the past week.

Team rankings

Here are Box-Toppers 2024 final team rankings through games of Thursday, April 11. The column BTP shows the number of Box-Toppers points players on the team accumulated this season. The column BTP/wk shows have many points teams accumulated from April. 5 to 11. The column Wk ago shows the team's rank as of April 4.

Dodgers lead

Dodgers players have accumulated 13.7 Box-Toppers points in the first two weeks of the season. They picked up 4.7 points in the past week since April 4. The Dodgers also led teams at the end of the first week of the season.

The Dodgers have baseball’s sixth-best winning percentage (.667). The New York Yankees lead all teams with a .769 winning percentage and are third in Box-Toppers team rankings with 11.5 Box-Toppers points.

The Dodgers are led by pitchers Tyler Glasnow and Evan Phillips, both with 3.0 Box-Toppers points on the season. Glasnow ranks third overall and first among National League pitchers, while Phillips ranks seventh overall, second among NL pitchers. (Though they both have 3.0 points in 2024, Glasnow ranks higher because he has more 2023 points—12.4 vs. 1.0.) Dodgers top-ranked batter is Freddie Freeman (1.0 point, 17th among NL batters). Eight different Dodgers players have earned Box-Toppers points so far in 2024.

Royals lead AL teams

The Dodgers lead over the second-place Royals with 12.7 Box-Toppers points, the top AL team. The Royals also gained the most Box-Toppers points in the past week (8.2), rising from 12th place last week.

The Royals have the third-best winning percentage among AL teams (.692), behind the Yankees (.769) and Cleveland Guardians (.750). The Guardians are fourth in Box-Toppers team rankings with 11.0 Box-Toppers points.

The Royals are led by pitcher Brady Singer (3.0 points, fourth overall and third among AL pitchers). Royals top batter is Bobby Witt Jr. (1.7 points, fourth among AL batters). Eight different Royals players have earned Box-Toppers points so far in 2024.

Biggest jump: Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies had the biggest jump in rankings over the past week, rising 17 spots from 25th to eighth place with 9.4 points, picking up 6.7 over the past week.

Biggest fall: Tigers, Diamondbacks, Cardinals, Angels

Four teams each fell eight spots in the past week, tied for the biggest decline among all teams:

  • Detroit Tigers fell from seventh to 15th place with 7.5 points, picking up 2.0 over the past week.

  • Arizona Diamondbacks fell from 11th to 19th place with 6.7 points, picking up 2.0 over the past week.

  • St. Louis Cardinals fell from 13th to 21st place with 6.5 points, picking up 2.0 over the past week.

  • Los Angeles Angels fell from 15th to 23rd place with 6.0 points, picking up 2.0 over the past week.

Last place: Marlins

The Miami Marlins rank 30th and last place in Box-Toppers team rankings with 2.0 Box-Toppers points, maintaining the ranking they held last week. The Marlins had 0.0 points as of April 4 and have picked up their 2.0 points in the past week, winning their only two games of the season, fewest among all teams.

Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. Players earn Box-Toppers points for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
