Guardians pitcher Triston McKenzie is Sunday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Also Sunday, Rangers pitcher Nathan Eovaldi rises to seventh in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors.

Player of the Day—McKenzie struck out 10 over five scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk, in the 2-1 win over the Twins. McKenzie did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the game was in a scoreless tie when he exited.

McKenzie earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, his first points of the season, and is 147th among all players, 44th among American League pitchers.

National League Player of the Day—Drew Ellis of the Phillies hit two home runs and went 3-for-3, scoring four times and driving in three runs, in the 11-3 win over the Nationals.

Ellis earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, his first points of the season, and is 46th among NL batters.

This is Ellis’s Box-Toppers debut, his first career Player of the Game honor. Ellis made his Major League debut July 30, 2021, and was playing in his 39th career game.

National League Player of the Day—Drew Ellis of the Phillies.

American League Batter of the Day—Josh Lowe of the Rays doubled, hit a sacrifice fly and went 2-for-3, scoring once and driving in one run, in the 6-2 win over the Red Sox.

This was Lowe’s Box-Toppers debut, his first career Player of the Game honor. Lowe made his Major League debut Sept. 8, 2021, and was playing in his 104th career game.

American League Batter of the Day—Josh Lowe of the Rays.

National League Batter of the Day—There is no separate NL Batter of the Day for Sunday because the overall NL Player of the Day is batter Drew Ellis.
