Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola is Monday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Nola struck out 12 over seven innings, allowing three runs (none earned), one hit and three walks, in the 8-3 win over the Tigers.

Nola earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 5.0 for the season, 31st among all players and 13th among National League pitchers.

American League Player of the Day—Rangers pitcher Martin Perez struck out five over seven innings, allowing one run (none earned), three hits and one walk, in the 4-3 win over the Cardinals. Perez did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the Cardinals tied the game after he exited.
