Player of the Day

Bassitt struck out 12 over six scoreless innings, allowing three hits and three walks, in the 2-1 win over the Giants.

Bassitt earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 11.4 for the season, rising from eighth to third in season player rankings, trailing Shohei Ohtani of the Angels (13.9) and teammate Kevin Gausman (12.0). Bassitt also ranks third among American League pitchers behind Ohtani and Gausman.

Bassitt becomes the fourth player this season to reach 10.0 Box-Toppers points. It is his third season and third straight season with 10.0 or more points. He also did it in 2021 with the Athletics (13.7, seventh among AL pitchers) and 2022 with the Mets (11.0, 19th among National League pitchers).

National League Player of the Day

Marlins pitcher Jesus Luzardo struck out nine over 6 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and one walk, in the 2-0 win over the Red Sox. Luzardo did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the game was in a scoreless tie when he exited.

Luzardo earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, giving him 9.1 for the season, 10th among all players and fifth among NL pitchers.

National League Player of the Day is Marlins pitcher Jesus Luzardo.

American League Batter of the Day

Kyle Tucker of the Astros hit a three-run homer and went 2-for-3, scoring twice and driving in five runs, in the 14-0 win over the Cardinals.
