The New York Yankees lead Box-Toppers weekly team rankings report for the fourth straight week.

Here are Box-Toppers 2022 team rankings through games of Thursday, June 30. The column BTP shows the number of Box-Toppers points players on the team accumulated this season. The column BTP/wk shows have many points teams accumulated from June 24 to June 30. The column Wk ago shows the team's rank on June 23.

Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Brewers rise to regain the lead among National League teams and the Seattle Mariners are the week’s hottest team.

Yankees players have accumulated 72.1 Box-Toppers points, picking up 4.0 in the past week. They lead AL teams in Box-Toppers points for the eighth straight week and have baseball’s best winning percentage (.727).

The Yankees are led by pitcher Gerrit Cole (10.4 Box-Toppers points, sixth among all players and fifth among AL pitchers). The Yankees top batter is Aaron Judge (6.5 Box-Toppers points, third among AL batters). There are 20 different Yankees players who have earned Player of the Game honors so far in 2022.

The Brewers rise to lead NL teams with 58.4 Box-Toppers points, picking up 4.5 points in the past week. They maintain their third-place overall rank, behind the Yankees and the Houston Astros (58.6). The Brewers pass last week’s top NL team, the San Diego Padres, who fall from second to fifth overall, third among NL teams, with 57.1 points, picking up 1.7 points in the past week. The Brewers previously led NL team for six straight weeks from May 5 to June 9.

The Brewers have the fifth-best winning percentage (.564) among NL teams, behind the Los Angeles Dodgers (.627), New York Mets (.618), San Diego Padres (.590) and Atlanta Braves (.571). The Dodgers rank fourth in Box-Toppers team rankings (57.7 Box-Toppers points), the Mets are sixth (55.6), the Padres are fifth (57.1) and the Braves are eighth (53.3).

The Brewers are led by pitcher Corbin Burnes (9.4 Box-Toppers points, 10th among all players and fifth among NL pitchers). The Brewers top batter is Rowdy Tellez (4.2 Box-Toppers points, 14th among NL batters). There are 16 different Brewers players who have earned Player of the Game honors so far in 2022.

The Seattle Mariners are the week’s hottest team, picking up 8.2 points in the past week, most among all teams. The Mariners rise from 17th to 16th in team rankings with 44.8 points.

Two teams each made four-spot jumps in Box-Toppers team rankings, tied for the biggest jump in the past week:

  • The Houston Astros rose from sixth to second place with 58.6 Box-Toppers points, picking up 7.0 points in the past week.

  • The Toronto Blue Jays rose from 15th to 11th place with 49.6 points, picking up 5.9 in the past week.

Three teams each made three-spot drops in Box-Toppers team rankings, tied for the biggest decline in the past week:

  • The San Diego Padres fell from second to fifth place with 57.1 Box-Toppers points, picking up 1.7 in the past week.

  • The San Francisco Giants fell from 11th to 14th place with 47.9 points, picking up 2.0 in the past week.

  • The Miami Marlins fell from 17th to 20th place with 40.6 points, picking up 2.0 in the past week.

The Oakland Athletics rank in 30th and last place in Box-Toppers team rankings for the fourth straight week with 25.5 points, picking up 2.5 points in the past week.

Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. Players earn Box-Toppers points for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
