Yankees pitcher Jameson Taillon is Friday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Also Friday, Pete Alonso of the Mets rises to second place in Box-Toppers season player rankings—rising to first among all National League players—after earning NL Player of the Day honors.

Player of the Day—Taillon struck out five over eight scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk, in the 2-0 win over the Rays.

Taillon earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 3.0 for the season, 71st among all players and 23rd among American League pitchers.

National League Player of the Day—Pete Alonso of the Mets homered, doubled and went 2-for-2, scoring once and driving in four runs, in the 8-6 win over the Phillies.

Alonso earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, giving him 7.7 for the season, rising to second place in season player rankings, trailing only Shohei Ohtani of the Angels (8.0). Alonso not only rises to first place among NL batters, but rises to first among all NL players. Alonso passes previous NL batting leader Mookie Betts of the Dodgers (6.5 points) and previous NL pitching leader Joe Musgrove of the Padres (7.0).
