Also Wednesday, Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff rises to fourth place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning National League Player of the Day honors.

Player of the Day—Cole struck out 12 over eight scoreless innings, allowing four hits and no walks, in the 1-0 win over the Rays.

Cole earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 9.0 for the season, rising from second to first place in Box-Toppers season player rankings, passing previous leader, Rays pitcher Tyler Glasnow (7.0 points), who had held the overall lead for a month (since April 12). Cole led all players in Box-Toppers points in 2019 with 32.2 when he was with the Astros.

Cole also now has 109.5 career Box-Toppers points, 63rd among all players since 1995, when Box-Toppers tracking began. Woodruff earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, giving him 6.4 for the season, rising to fourth in season player rankings, second among NL pitchers, behind Clayton Kershaw of the Dodgers.
