Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner is Friday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Bumgarner struck out nine over seven innings, allowing one run, four hits and two walks, in the 8-3 win over the Padres.

National League Batter of the Day—Todd Frazier of the Mets hit two three-run home runs and went 2-for-4, scoring twice and driving in six runs in the 11-5 win over the Phillies.

American League Batter of the Day—George Springer of the Astros hit a three-run homer, doubled and went 2-for-4, scoring twice and driving in four runs, in the 7-4 win over the Blue Jays.

Notable—C.J. Cron of the Twins earned Player of the Game honors for the second straight day Friday—and the third time in six days.

Cron (HR 2B 2-5 2R 3BI in the 13-5 win over the Tigers) was also Player of the Game Thursday in the 10-5 win over the White Sox (HR 2B 3-5 2R 3BI). Cron was also Player of the Game Sunday in the 7-4 win over the Tigers (HR 1-2 2R 3BI).

Cron has 5.0 Box-Toppers points for the season, 33rd among AL batters, with 3.0 of those points earned in the past week.
