Mariners pitcher Logan Gilbert is Sunday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.
Other top players Sunday include William Contreras of the Brewers, Pete Alonso of the Orioles and Kyle Schwarber of the Phillies.
Player of the Day: Logan Gilbert, Mariners
Gilbert struck out eight over 6 1/3 innings, allowing one run, three hits and two walks, in the 3-1 win over the Red Sox.
Gilbert earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 9.0 for the season, 14th among all players and seventh among American League pitchers.
NL Player of the Day: William Contreras, Brewers
Contreras hit a three-run home run and went 4-for-5, scoring twice and driving in three runs, in the 9-4 win over the Braves.
Contreras earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points as National League Player of the Day, giving him 3.7 for the season, 17th among NL batters.
AL Batter of the Day: Pete Alonso, Orioles
Alonso hit a three-run homer and went 2-for-3, scoring twice and driving in three runs, in the 12-1 win over the Dodgers.
NL Batter of the Day
There is no separate NL Batter of the Day for Sunday because the overall NL Player of the Day is batter William Contreras.

Notable: Kyle Schwarber, Phillies
Schwarber won Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors for a second straight day Sunday.
Schwarber (HR 1-3 2R 3BI in the 6-2 win over the Mets) was also NL Player of the Day Saturday in the 15-3 win over the Mets (3HR 4-5 4R 6BI). He earned 1.7 Box-Toppers points Saturday and 1.0 point Sunday and now has 6.7 for the season, third among NL batters, behind Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers (10.7) and Sal Stewart of the Reds (7.0).
It should be noted that Ohtani has earned only 3.0 of his 10.7 points as a batter, with the other 7.7 coming as a pitcher. However, because at least 25% of his nine Player of the Game honors have come from each role (33.3% batting, 66.7% pitching), he qualifies to rank at both positions with his full 10.7-point total.
Schwarber led NL batters in Box-Toppers points in 2025 with 12.0.

All of Sunday’s other Player of the Game winners (listed in the chart) earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point.
Correction and update: An earlier version of this post incorrectly named Denzer Guzman of the Angels as Sunday’s AL Batter of the Day.
While both Guzman and Pete Alonso of the Orioles finished with identical +4.0 Box-Toppers game scores and highly similar stat lines, Alonso wins the category on a tiebreaker because he drew more walks (two versus Guzman’s one). The post and player point totals have been updated to reflect Alonso as the AL Batter of the Day. Box-Toppers regrets the error.
