Giants pitcher Robbie Ray is Box-Toppers Player of the Day in Sunday’s spring training games.

Other top players Sunday include Rays pitcher Shane McClanahan, Jordan Yost of the Tigers, Nelson Velázquez of the Cardinals and Rhys Hoskins of the Guardians.

Player of the Day: Robbie Ray, Giants

Ray struck out eight over five scoreless and hitless innings, allowing no walks, in the 7-1 win over the Brewers.

Ray earned 9.4 Box-Toppers points in 2025, 22nd among National League pitchers.

AL Player of the Day: Shane McClanahan, Rays

McClanahan struck out seven over 3 2/3 scoreless and hitless innings, allowing two walks, in the 6-1 win over the Pirates.

After missing two full seasons due to Tommy John recovery and subsequent 2025 triceps surgeries, McClanahan showed elite form in his return.

In 2022, he earned 16.4 Box-Toppers points, fourth among AL pitchers. He last earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors on June 16, 2023, a day on which his 9.7 Box-Toppers points ranked fourth among all players. He finished 2023 in 54th place overall, 28th among AL pitchers.

AL Player of the Day: Shane McClanahan, Rays.

AL Batter of the Day: Jordan Yost, Tigers

Yost hit a pinch-hit grand slam and went 1-for-1, scoring once and driving in four runs, in the 12-1 win over the Yankees.

Yost, 19, was the Tigers’ first-round pick (24th overall) in the 2025 MLB Draft, was assigned to the Florida Complex League and has yet to make his official regular-season professional debut.

AL Batter of the Day: Jordan Yost, Tigers.

NL Batter of the Day: Nelson Velázquez, Cardinals

Velázquez hit a three-run home run and went 2-for-3, scoring once and driving in four runs, in the 6-3 win over the Nationals.

He earned 4.0 Box-Toppers points in 2024 with the Royals but did not play in the Major Leagues in 2025, playing 51 minor league games in the Royals and Pirates organizations.

Notable: Rhys Hoskins, Guardians

Hoskins earned his second Box-Toppers Player of the Game honor of the spring Sunday (HR 1-2 2R 2BI in the 12-6 win over the Athletics). He also did it March 7, when he was AL Batter of the Day (HR 2-3 R 4BI in the 7-1 win over the Padres).
