Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Blue Jays is Box-Toppers Player of the Game in Tuesday’s World Series Game 4.

The Toronto Blue Jays win 6-2 to tie the best-of-seven-game series with the Los Angeles Dodgers, 2-2.

Guerrero hit a third-inning, go-ahead, two-run home run and went 2-for-4, scoring twice and driving in two runs. He was also walked intentionally in the seventh inning.

Guerrero had a Box-Toppers game score of +2.0 on Tuesday, which was actually second-best among Blue Jays players. However, relief pitcher Chris Bassitt (2IP H 0R 0BB 2K ND), who had a higher game score (+3.0), did not qualify to win Player of the Game honors because:

  • He had fewer than three innings pitched.

  • He did not earn the win or save.

  • He did not have a higher game score and did not pitch the same or more innings as the pitcher who would have otherwise been Player of the Game. For example, if another pitcher had earned the save, pitching 1 1/3 innings with a +2.1 game score and been in line to be Player of the Game, Bassitt would have beaten him—even with a no-decision—because he had a higher game score and more innings pitched.

Guerrero earned 4.0 Box-Toppers points in the 2025 regular season, 245th among all players, 47th among American League batters and ninth among AL first basemen.

This was his second Box-Toppers Player of the Game honor of the 2025 postseason. He also did it in the AL Division Series Game 1 win over the Yankees on Oct. 4 (HR SF 3-4 R 2BI) with a +2.0 game score.

Guerrero is now one of seven players who have earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors more than once this postseason. Three Dodgers players—Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Shohei Ohtani—have done it three times. Three other players have won twice: Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow, Jorge Polanco of the Mariners and Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski.

Blue Jays starting pitcher Shane Bieber recorded a -0.9 Box-Toppers game score Tuesday (5.1IP 4H R 3BB 3K W).

Blue Jays starting pitcher Shane Bieber recorded a -0.9 Box-Toppers game score Tuesday (5.1IP 4H R 3BB 3K W). Dodgers starter Shohei Ohtani recorded a -3.0 game score in the loss (6IP 6H 4R BB 6K L).

Dodgers starter Shohei Ohtani recorded a -3.0 game score in the loss (6IP 6H 4R BB 6K L).

Only four players had Box-Toppers game scores above 0.0 on Tuesday. Along with Bassitt and Guerrero, they are:

  • Blue Jays reliever Mason Fluharty with a +1.2 game score (0.2IP 0H 0R 0BB K ND).

  • Dodgers reliever Jack Dreyer with a +2.0 game score (2IP 2H 0R BB 3K ND).

Dodgers top batter Tommy Edman had a -1.0 game score (1-3 0R BI).

About Box-Toppers

Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. That player is the person who contributed most to his team’s win. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day. (No Box-Toppers points are awarded in postseason games.)

Box-Toppers strives for accuracy. See a mistake in a post? A wrong name, wrong team, grammar error, spelling goof, etc.? Thanks for pointing it out! Contact Box-Toppers here. Let's fix it and make it right.
