However, only 135 of them earned points in 2024. Eighteen players classified as rookies who did not earn points in 2024 earned them in 2023 or earlier. (Players can maintain their rookie status over more than one season until they meet specific thresholds.) Of those 18 rookies who earned points in previous seasons, the player who earned his longest ago did it in 2020—Marlins pitcher Sixto Sánchez, who had 3.0 points that season but has none since.

Among the 153 rookies who have earned Box-Toppers points, 74 finished the season on an American League team, 77 on a National League team and two finished the season not on a Major League roster.

About Box-Toppers

Box-Toppers tracks who most helps their team win the most games. Using standard box score statistics, Box-Toppers uses a simple formula to determine a Player of the Game for each Major League Baseball game played. In regular season games, players earn 1.0 Box-Toppers point for being named Player of the Game and can earn bonus points for being Player of the Day or top player or batter in their league for the day.
