Brewers pitcher Freddy Peralta is Monday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.
Also Monday, Pete Alonso of the Mets rises to lead National League batters in 2023 Box-Toppers points after earning NL Batter of the Day honors.
Player of the Day
Peralta struck out 13 over seven innings, allowing one run, one hit and no walks, in the 12-1 win over the Reds.
Peralta earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 10.7 for the season, 12th among all players and fifth among NL pitchers.
Peralta becomes the 15th player this season to reach 10 Box-Toppers points. It is his second season with 10 or more points. In 2021, he had 12.7 points with the Brewers, 17th among NL pitchers. In 2022, he had 7.4 points, 38th among NL pitchers.
American League Player of the Day
Twins pitcher Pablo Lopez struck out eight over seven scoreless innings, allowing five hits and no walks, in the 9-3 win over the Tigers.
Lopez earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being AL Player of the Day, giving him 10.7 for the season, 11th among all players and seventh among AL pitchers.
Lopez becomes the 16th player this season to reach 10 Box-Toppers points. It is his second straight season with 10 or more points. In 2022, he earned 10.7 points with the Marlins, 22nd among NL pitchers.
Though Lopez and overall Player of the Day Peralta both have 10.7 Box-Toppers points on the season, Lopez ranks higher in 11th place overall because he has more 2022 points—10.7 vs. 7.4.
National League Batter of the Day
Pete Alonso of the Mets hit two home runs, including a three-run shot, in the 11-2 win over the Cubs. Alonso went 3-for-4, scoring twice and driving in six runs.
Alonso earns 1.5 Box-Toppers points for being NL Batter of the Day, giving him 9.0 for the season, 22nd overall and rising to first place among NL batters, passing previous leader Nolan Gorman of the Cardinals (9.0). Though Alonso and Gorman both have 9.0 points on the season, Alonso ranks higher because he has more 2022 points—14.9 vs. 5.0.
Alonso led all NL batters in 2022 with 14.9 Box-Toppers points.

American League Batter of the Day
Pablo Reyes of the Red Sox hit a walk-off grand slam, doubled and went 3-for-4, scoring three times and driving in four runs, in the 6-2 win over the Royals.
This was Reyes’ Box-Toppers debut, his first career Player of the Game honor. Reyes made his Major League debut Sept. 2, 2018, and was playing in his 180th career game.
