Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias is Sunday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Also Sunday, Brewers pitcher Freddy Peralta rises to 10th place in Box-Toppers season player rankings after earning Player of the Game honors.

Player of the Day

Urias struck out 12 over seven innings, allowing three runs, four hits and no walks, in the 8-3 win over the Rockies.

Urias earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 10.0 for the season, 18th among all players and eighth among National League pitchers.

Urias becomes the 20th player this season to reach 10 Box-Toppers points. It is his third season and third straight season with 10 or more points. In 2021, he had 19.1 points with the Dodgers, fourth overall and third among NL pitchers. In 2022, he had 19.4 points with the Dodgers, seventh overall and fourth among NL pitchers.

American League Player of the Day is Twins pitcher Sonny Gray.

Twins pitcher Sonny Gray struck out seven over six scoreless innings, allowing two hits and three walks, in the 3-0 win over the Phillies.

Gray earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being AL Player of the Day, giving him 8.4 for the season, 19th among AL pitchers.

American League Batter of the Day is Daulton Varsho of the Blue Jays.

Daulton Varsho of the Blue Jays hit a three-run homer and went 2-for-5, scoring twice and driving in five runs, in the 11-4 win over the Cubs.

National League Batter of the Day is Jared Triolo of the Pirates.

Jared Triolo of the Pirates hit a pinch-hit, seventh-inning, go-ahead, three-run homer in the 4-2 win over the Cubs. Triolo went 1-for-1, scoring once and driving in three runs.

This was Triolo’s Box-Toppers debut, his first career Player of the Game honor. Triolo made his Major League debut June 28 and was playing in his 34th career game.

Brewers pitcher Freddy Peralta is Box-Toppers Player of the Game in Sunday’s win over the White Sox.

Peralta (6IP 4H 0R 3BB 6K W in the 7-3 win over the White Sox) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 11.7 for the season. He ranks fifth among NL pitchers. Though he has the same Box-Toppers points total as two other NL pitchers—Zac Gallen of the Diamondbacks and Corbin Burnes of the Brewers—Peralta ranks third among them because he has the fewest 2022 points: Gallen (18.7), Burnes (15.4), Peralta (7.4).
