Rangers pitcher Max Scherzer is Monday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day and rises to fourth place in season player rankings.

Scherzer struck out 11 over seven scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk, in the 12-0 win over the Angels.

Scherzer earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 13.4 for the season, rising to fourth place in season player rankings and third place among American League pitchers, behind Shohei Ohtani of the Angels (18.4) and Kevin Gausman of the Blue Jays (14.7). (Scherzer earned 10.4 of his points with the National League New York Mets before being traded to the Rangers prior to the Aug. 1 trade deadline.)

Scherzer also now has 249.7 career Box-Toppers points, third among all players since Box-Toppers tracking began in 1995, behind Randy Johnson (282.5) and Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw (269.4). Scherzer ranks second among active players behind Kershaw and leads active AL players, ahead of Astros pitcher Justin Verlander (238.6).

National League Player of the Day is Eddie Rosario of the Braves.
