Padres pitcher Blake Snell is Saturday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Also Saturday, Braves pitcher Spencer Strider rises to lead National League pitchers in 2023 Box-Toppers points, rising to third place overall in Box-Toppers season player rankings, after earning Player of the Game honors.

Player of the Day

Snell struck out 11 over six scoreless innings, allowing one hit and three walks, in the 3-1 win over the Mets.

Snell earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 6.7 for the season, 36th among all players and 16th among National League pitchers.

American League Player of the Day is Tigers pitcher Matt Manning.

Tigers pitcher Matt Manning struck out five over 6 2/3 scoreless, hitless innings, allowing three walks, in the 2-0 win over the Blue Jays.

Manning was one of three Tigers pitchers who combined to throw a no-hitter. He exited after 91 pitches.

Strider (6.1IP 4H 0R BB 11K W in the 6-1 win over the Rays) earns 1.0 Box-Toppers point, giving him 11.7 for the season, rising from fifth to third place in overall season player rankings, trailing only Shohei Ohtani of the Angels (13.9) and Blue Jays pitcher Kevin Gausman (12.0). Strider rises to lead NL pitchers, passing previous leader Zac Gallen of the Diamondbacks (10.7), who only took the lead Friday.

Jarren Duran of the Red Sox earned Box-Toppers Player of the Game honors for the second straight day Saturday.

Duran (HR 2B 3-5 2R 2BI in the 10-3 win over the Athletics) was also Player of the Game Friday in the 7-3 win over the Athletics (3B 2-4 2R BI).

Duran earned 1.0 point on Friday and 1.0 point on Saturday, giving him 7.5 points for the season, third among AL batters behind Shohei Ohtani of the Angels (13.9) and Aaron Judge of the Yankees (7.5). (Though Judge and Duran have the same total, Judge ranks ahead because he has more 2022 points—13.2 vs. 0.0.)
