Twins pitcher Kenta Maeda is Friday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Also Friday, James Outman of the Dodgers rises to lead National League batters in 2023 Box-Toppers points after earning Player of the Game honors.

Player of the Day

Maeda struck out eight over five scoreless innings, allowing three hits and two walks, in the 4-1 win over the Tigers.

Maeda earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, his first points of the season, and is 254th among all players, 70th among American League pitchers.

National League Player of the Day

Willy Adames of the Brewers hit two homers—including a three-run shot—and doubled, in the 7-1 win over the Guardians. Adames went 4-for-5, scoring twice and driving in five runs.

Adames earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, giving him 4.7 for the season, seventh among NL batters.

Adames had the same Box-Toppers game score (+6.0) as another NL batter who won Player of the Game honors Friday. Elly De La Cruz of the Reds (HR 3B 2B 4-5 3R 4BI in the 11-10 win over the Braves) also had a +6.0 game score. But Adames beat him out for NL Player of the Day because he had more runs batted in—five vs. four.

Jose Siri of the Rays hit a three-run homer and went 3-for-4, scoring twice and driving in four runs, in the 11-3 win over the Royals.
