Mariners pitcher George Kirby is Sunday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day, the final day of the regular season.

Kirby struck out seven over six scoreless innings, allowing three hits and no walks, in the 1-0 win over the Rangers.

Kirby earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 13.7 for the season, 14th among all players and eighth among American League pitchers.

National League Player of the Day

Padres pitcher Pedro Avila struck out seven over five scoreless innings, allowing three hits and no walks, in the 2-1 win over the White Sox. Avila did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the game was in a scoreless tie when he exited.

Avila earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, his first points of the season, and is 139th among NL pitchers. Avila earned his only other Box-Toppers Player of the Game honor on April 11, 2019.
