Rays pitcher Shane McClanahan is Wednesday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

McClanahan struck out 11 over seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits and one walk, in the 4-2, 10-inning win over the Angels. McClanahan did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the Angels tied the game after he exited.

McClanahan earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 4.7 for the season, 13th among all players and fifth among American League pitchers.

National League Player of the Day—Marlins pitcher Sandy Alcantara struck out six over seven innings, allowing one run, two hits and three walks, in the 11-3 win over the Diamondbacks. Alcantara did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the Diamondbacks tied the game after he exited.

Alcantara earns 1.7 Box-Toppers points for being NL Player of the Day, his first points of the season, and now ranks 47th among NL pitchers.

National League Batter of the Day—Brendan Donovan of the Cardinals hit two doubles and went 2-for-2, scoring three times and driving in two runs, in the 10-1 win over the Orioles.

This was Donovan’s Box-Toppers debut, his first career Player of the Game honor. Donovan made his Major League debut April 25 and was playing in his 11th career game.

Debut—Athletics pitcher Zach Logue made his Box-Toppers debut Wednesday with his first career Player of the Game honor.
