Giants’ Gausman tops players for Sunday, Sept. 26; Rays‘ Baz tops AL players

Giants pitcher Kevin Gausman is Sunday’s Box-Toppers Player of the Day.

Gausman struck out 11 over six innings, allowing one run, three hits and no walks, in the 6-2 win over the Rockies. Gausman did not earn the win, picking up a no-decision, because the Rockies tied the game after he exited.

Gausman earns 2.0 Box-Toppers points for being Player of the Day, giving him 13.7 for the season, 16th among all players and 10th among National League pitchers.

American League Player of the Day—Rays pitcher Shane Baz struck out nine over 5 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and one walk, in the 3-2 win over the Marlins.

This was Baz’s Box-Toppers debut, the first time in his career he earned Player of the Game honors. Baz made his Major League debut Sept. 20 and was playing in his second career game.

National League Batter of the Day—Willy Adames of the Brewers homered and went 2-for-4, scoring three times and driving in three runs, in the 8-4 win over the Mets.
